Yeah, it is/can be an age/generational thing, no doubt.
People will tend to gravitate to what they are more familiar with, and often
what spurred their imagination as a youth.
When I started playing I saw the P-51 Mustang and I was hooked.
Mainly because it was my favorite plane as a kid, I saw one as a youth
at our old local airport, “English Field”(I have no idea how they got that name
here in the middle of the Panhandle in Texas . . lol, but yeah, that was it)
And that thing just looked and sounded so cool . . it was awesome
I was disappointed in the flight models of the P-51’2 here in game, and most US
planes just aren’t that great . . . really floppy and unnatural compared to most.
But that didn’t stop me . . . lol, I worked thru all the WW II stuff and early jets.
I really liked the MiG 15 & 17, but as the newer , more modern stuff arrived,
the game up there just changes . . . drastically.
I play 4.3 - 5.3 in Air AB(mainly 4.7) . . . not because it is “easy” or I do well all
of the time, because I don’t really . . . I do ok, have good games here and there, yeah.
But I like it because by that BR, most players have some decent experience and
know how to play to a degree. It is competitive, fun and closer games more often
than a lot of BR’s I have played.
I have gone down to the lower BRs and played, to grind out some camos or something
like that, and believe me, those lvl 8’s & 10’s have no issues or moral reservations about
shooting this lvl 100 down . . . toot sweet! . . lol
I like all the planes and tanks from Reserves up to a certain point, yeah mainly WW II
But in ships I prefer the bigger ships at the higher BRs for the most part, and I play
AB & RB in naval.
To each their own, we all like different things and that’s cool. The game is HUGE now
with something for just about everybody.
I always say, play what you like, what you have fun playing . . whatever that is
