Russian MBTs: Firepower and Protection versus NATO counterparts

This is so far out of left field.

How is it overperforming? The only thing I’m really aware of is that the seeker is far worse than it should be, and that (depending on the sub variant we have, which isn’t specified) the IRCCM isn’t entirely modeled.

And this also doesn’t include various other unmodeled features of some Sidewinders like the “search” component of SEAM (FoV of the Seeker should process though patterns to expand the searched volume around boresight / HMD / radar train angle), and Null / Chirp functionality.

So, not trying to go off topic much, but here’s the short version.
In sim, there is no warning it’s coming, so you’re going to use flares rapidly to attempt to defeat something that may not even be there.
It seems to track and preform far better than it should in sim, where flares, and manuvers are not enough most of the time.
It has far higher potency than the R-73, for various reasons.

One shot if shot under the gun
or driver hatch
work like a charm

we are in the big 24 nobody is using DM33 against a BVM and the Strv 122A is rendered obsolete as a first spawn if you have the 122B

gosh that is horrifying, how would you counter that, changing direction in a loop or something?

Sort of.

You probably can’t easily kinematically dodge them in all scenarios and from all aspects(by design), what you need is for the flares is to be very well matched to the airframe, so it doesn’t trigger the Flare detection circuitry and so initiate the IRCCM or you occlude the view sensor entirely though the use of advanced designs that dispersal a significant volume of IR obscurant (like a small smoke screen)

Otherwise what you do is use the roll axis to spread the flares out in space and change how hard you are pulling since the prediction is fairly rudimentary, but still needs a fair number of to be continuously deployed to keep it blind for a sufficient time to escape the field of regard, or perfectly deploy flares at the right cadence, pattern and heat signature to fool the missile into thinking that one of the fares are the true target.

The main thing is that you need to have a lot of space and to see the launch occur to have the time to employ defensive measures, though if all of these things were fixed it’d be a fair bit more reliable than the R-73, though trades it for no meaningful improvement in off boresight capability vs the AIM-9L, unlike the R-60M > R-73. Which is personally why I think they should have added the AIM-95 instead of the AIM-9M for the US, and assorted other prototype TVC missiles for other nations.

I have no clue where you’re getting this 3k from, the 1st one was 1.8k but you had a problem with the angle so i took that into account and it went up to 5.2k
If i was “cherry picking” i would have gone with the higher one first
On most tanks, the driver port and gun breech are weak points, the T-series tanks just have better armor design in this case which would increase the chances of that shot being stopped if aimed between these 2 spots

How? those things can easily be killed with 1-2 shots, usually 1 is enough though

It not mine really

and youre defending yourself by “its not mine” when the meta that the meme was made in is long gone

A Leo 2a7? In what reality do you live? Best case scenario playing a T series, you kill the driver and gunner.

The armor profile on T series is typically better than their counterparts, but their biggest downfall by far is the reverse gear, or rather, lack there of.

Go play sim air in a Mig-29smt or Su-27, you’re not gonna have a good time, because you have no way to tell what is coming. That’s why 90% of the populous plays Aim-9M carrying vehicles, they’re monstrously broken in sim ab.

And your crazy for suggesting more weapons, especially experimental ones, while the Aim-120, last I knew was still going through mountains and tracking through mountings, hitting targets (they might’ve finally fixed it).

Driver, Gunner and commander are all lined up, should kill all 3 if it was a decent shot
you could also go for the breech under the barrel, sometimes it will create enough spalling to kill everyone in the turret, even if it doesn’t it would usually leave them in a critical state

I mostly fight german leos tho, not sure about the Strv122s

Is that because you’re a strv player? Since for some reason gaijin loves to pair up the 2 nations with the most powerful lineups.

Weirdly enough, i find myself fighting against leos and abrams a lot when playing the Strvs
If i’m playing Germany, i’m mostly fighting soviets sometimes Strvs
And if i play USSR, i’ll mostly see germans and abrams
It just keeps changing

Because i’m not made that meme
But still DM33 or DM53 against BVM they gonna need to aim weak spot all the same
same goes to Strv122 too

122 players here and no they not pair with German most of the times
They often pair with deadweight US with clickbait
Still
Killing 122 are the same way killing 2A7V

U.S. player here, no.

Yeah not in this reality. Best you can wish for is driver gunner or driver loader. Head on is hell for Soviet tanks vs the Leo 2a7 and the like. Breech snipes are kinda hard to do especially when I see German / Sweden mains turret wiggle like there’s no tomorrow.

And the Leo 2a7 spam as well.

Easiest to harder to kill:
Ariete
TKX
LECLERC
CHALLY
ABRAMS
T SERIES
Chinese things
LEO 2a7
STRV 122B+
