I’m afraid that Flakrad is now on pair with the Pantsir after secret buff. While Pantsir is good SPAA is not impossible you can’t counter it from safe distance because if you know the map very well and know which spots they can hide.

The situation has only slightly improved, it’s still extreme stupidity on their part right now.

How would increasing general map size increase the effectiveness of CAS?

The “secret” buff that was put in the datamine was the reduction of the drag because of how bad was the VT1 performing lets not even say that the flarak rad can only fire 2 before having to reload and it cant even guide the missile while reloading so its open to enemy fire also the pantsir has 4 30mm guns located on the sides allowing it to counter closer targets such as heli rushers wich the flarak rad cant and also the drag coefficent of the pantsir missile its much better than the VT1 you can even check it yourself and you can see the massive difference.

Map size aside, I think SPAA should be able to get more ammunition at spawn.

Yes, another thing I’ve advocated for previously.

Spawns should already be a place for everyone restocking ammo, especially on 1 cap maps or maps where both teams have 1 captured point from beggining.

It’s not just CAS, but for CAS specifically: bigger map means more time spend driving through big open fields being an easy target for a thermal pod equipped LGB thrower. Or being stuck behind a hill because if you cross the ridgeline you get sniped at from several angles, which makes you an easy target too, bonus points if there’s several people there. It would also mean way more distance for SPAAs to cover to get to a friendly cap for more ammo, if they can even make it there.

Larger maps make comebacks harder. If you have to drive for like 3+ minutes to get to a cap in the later half of a match, your tickets will easily bleed out by 50%, and CAS will have alot more time to keep you from reaching a cap. You’ll drive through big open spaces when the enemy team is already in position and looking towards your spawn or around caps, and their planes are already circling around looking for you. Tank wise, it only gets worse if there’s elevated positions to get an advantage from, like Sands of Sinai. And even bigger maps would be hard to create believable cover for cross-map travel for that SPAA can use to leave the spawn. Plane wise, there isn’t really anything you can do for cross-map cover against CAS, except massive cities like Sun City, but bigger.

Not to forget, players that don’t like big open maps that turn into boring snipefests quickly (like myself and most of my WT buddies) will turn to CAS when they have enough points instead of spawning another tank, or even first spawn a rocket heli.
