Didn’t we complain that one of the lacking parts of bomber gameplay is the lack of a sense of challenge? So why divert players from valuable engagement in competition by intervening with artificial intelligence that “does it for you”? There’s no real satisfaction when it’s an algorithm deciding combat outcomes instead of individual performance. Progressive player skill training to eventually face adversities is a basic principle in almost all video games. Why not here? Learning to manually aim the turrets and master its ballistics is necessary. Though it’s a rather outdated mechanic in need of urgent improves, it can be perfectly viable. To begin with, the fact that the game does not make it easy for you to control the aircraft for evasive manoeuvres while firing at the enemy is one of the biggest obstacles.
I do not subscribe to this sort of reductionist thinking.
Also, expecting players operating multi-crew aircraft to simultaneously “be” half a dozen or more separate individual human beings performing different specialized tasks (pilot AND bombardier AND each gunner AND radio operator for that matter, etc) and thinking that equates to a player in a fighter only having to “be” one single individual person is nonsense. To say nothing of the absurd ease-of-use that comes along with mouse aim, primarily benefiting fighters.
The only way for this to actually be a fair matchup would be an entirely different kind of game where every individual crew member was played by a different player. So to make up for this expectation of one person having the awareness, mental capacity, and multitasking ability of half a dozen people combined, things are simplified and automated. It’s essential.
Feel free to insert “attackers”, “top-tier fighters with full bomb load”, or anything else, including whatever “”“useless”“” type of tank or ship you want, it’s the same answer. Nothing else in the game has a limit; bombers are not special and do not need one.
Honestly, I’d love to see a match where one team ends up with twelve bombers, it’d be hilarious and chaotic.
If you’re dumb and fly straight into the climbing fighters, sure. If you’re not, you’ll survive to drop your bomb load in almost every single match.
I personal Don’t have these problems I somehow out maneuver fighters in bombers and just turn myself into a heavy fighter after dropping my payload. The plus of the bomber is that it can actually tank a lot of rounds so it makes a very good fighter.
Why can’t one side form a squadron of bombers to bomb Stalingrad while the other team have fighters? Or just any kind of interesting scenario. I am sure that is what we all expected when we joined this game.
I’ve been playing the game for a long time and I know Gaijin is capable of modeling anything… but this is more of an ethical issue… Once upon a time, there was a debate as to why it’s not possible to build a target factory in the middle of a city and destroy the factory even from half of the city…
Here is the answer…
Gaijin chose to maintain a 12+ rating to increase their market opportunity, including certain types of violence would increase their rating to 15+ or 17+ (whether that would be a good thing or not is subject for another discussion). And finally, bombing cities would be considered of bad taste by many people, historically accurate …
It’s a good point but we do just that in the main game of GRB. We shell, we even kill individuals on SP guns and see them die. So I don’t think that is it. Plus so many other games have a lower rating than war thunder does and involve bombing of cities even nuking them in some cases.
Yes, the buried dog is that the Gaijin set the rules and we had to agree with them…
(and this applies to everything, from battle rating, matchmaking, assembly of machines to the game, etc. etc. … it’s according to Gaijin rules and whether we want to play it or not…)
There were a lot of players who saw this as twisting history, but that’s just the way it is…
I am sure Gaijin would love that excuse to be as lame and lazy as they are.
The best map for Aircraft is the test flight map and that says it all about how bad the air game is. I had better games on the Amiga back when.
yeah they should remove all aircraft from the game itd vastly improve it
On the old forum, there were suggestions on how to improve the maps and the targets on them…¨
- one big factory in the middle of the map and one team is the defender the other the attacker …
- the same with refineries, ports, train depots full of military equipment…
- in addition to the classic square (factory), some maps have bases in the form of AA missile bases, this is the only improvement for the whole time…
- you will probably play with the fighter the most…
- with an attack aircraft as ever
- you have to be very high with the bomber, or you’ll be sneaking near the ground…
But otherwise they are hardly symmetrical, predictable maps…
Some planes don’t get to the height that’s ideal for them because the maps are short to be fun and players want a quick fight…
If you look at the basic shape of the maps, they are big, but the game is played in a small area … I am attaching some …
And in this he has Gaijin support with players … they don’t want to climb, they don’t want airfields, they don’t want airfield protection etc… They want fast action and next game within minutes
wait the arcaded daily event has you defending a base from bomber squadrons could they not make another mode for it where you and a team are the one bombing the base?
The single missions are the best for immersion although they do get boring quickly. Its fighting bots as well. It is hard to get any immersion or realism in a multi-player game.
No not the single Mission the arcade daily event.

OR just aim them yourself? Instead of having the game played for you?
16 Ju288 teams lets go lmao
??? I do you turnip, i never said i dont!
I said - they should make the gunners open fire sooner. which they should. regardless of whether I manually aim then or not, jesus how can you not understand that? or are you just being reactive?
Some people . . . .
See this is how durable Bombers should be.
Those aren’t 30mm, those are definitely 20mm being fired.
From a tail sitting position like that, MG151s will do that little damage yes - but you can see the hits aren’t concentrated at all on one area like someone would do in WT.
