Revised poll on CAS in Ground Battles, would you play a tank only mode?

In 3.7 SPAA are weak in 10.0 there to strong

Sd.Kfz.251/21? @ 3.3 is nice.
M16 MGMC @ 2.7 works wonderful even in higher tiers up to 5.0
BTR-152A @2.7 is also good … the BTR-152D on 4.0 is a beast and shreds planes like hell
Wirbelwind @3.7 is also a beast and planeshredder

Some nations like US got problems with their 4.0 SPAA lineup because of the slow firerate. But you can overcome this flaw by getting better.
There is only one spot where it gets nasty. It is around 7.0 still no rocket SPAA but 1st jets are coming into battle. The biggest weakness are the players themselfs sitting on the spawn and firing over 1.5+km on planes.

Sim veteran here:
In general I fly whenever I can, sometimes I don’t even take tank to a battle, just planes. Not rare are battles where I have more tank kills in a plane than the rest of my team together.
Flying airplanes is the highest skill in this game and we have to fly against arcade tanks and AAA who can mouse aim at us.
At AB or AB+ this makes sense - all vehicles are mouse aim, both tanks and airplanes but in SB we pilots are at artificial disadvantage. Tank players have artificial advantage over us in form of mouse aim. On top of that they can all hear incoming airplane. Clouds also do not render over battlefield if you are in a tank but they render for aiplanes and helis.
SB tanks and AAA should get mouse-joystick as a control and no ability to aim and fire in commander view, only through sights. Only then this will be fair for pilots.

Top tier is totally russia biased with Pantsir and 50kg AGM-65 warhead nerfed to the bottom so it cannot even reliably kill soft vehicles.

Of course there is also a case of utterly ridiculous vehicles like Z-19 and Ka-52 spawning too close to the battlefield - the forward helicopter base should be removed in 9.0+ battles.

To sum up:

  • tanks should get mouseaim and ability to fire from commander view removed (replaced with mousejoystick)
  • forward helicopter bases should be removed at 9.0+ battles
  • give maverick correct explosive damage in addition to HEAT dmg
  • Pantsir gets removed or nerfed
  • Clouds render the same way for all vehicles in a battle

Pretty much. I stuck it out a bit to try and see what higher tier (now mid tier) tank gameplay was like, but in the end I went back to just playing air RB.

Coming back every week or two to update on my few matches, played two team lost due to cas both times lol

i would definitely say that cas AT HIGH BR(like tier 6 and 7) is too strong and some anti-airs like pantsir are too strong.

lol nah the Chinese farm bots are usually pretty bad, but if it is an actual cheater they usually top 2. Mostly just a check-in / bump to the post on the daily woes of seeing “ground” players using cas as a crutch - Edit: tried match today, cas deaths only to someone who died once in ground and got in a jet, gaijin if any of your employees can read please create an actual separate ground section this sucks

The biggest Tiger I issue is the frontal left ammo rack next to the driver. This is still the primary rack - always filled - and this one gets you always killed if anything pens the front. After that its the hitboxes of S-Mine launchers blocking your gun traverse and depression.

Still waiting for gaijin to finally implement this, just played a top tier match died to a mephisto then proceeded to die 5 times to cas trying to get out of spawn, probably still won’t change anything since this company is horrible at actually making an enjoyable experience.

CAS gets out of hands. Had some games yesterday where 4-5 planes where in the sky at 9.3-10.3.
Then you drive a few meters with your roland out of spawn and get a AGM in the face… boop, back to hanger. At the moment i just leave the current game if get killed by CAS. Easy solution for stupid problem.

I have had games this week where I was 1st or 2nd in my team. I can assure you I’m not cheating. No way I’m going to dig through someone else’s code and try back-figuring what info is going where. I’m trying to spade everything, not focused on K/D ratio. (Which does tend to suck, since driving all those unspaded vehicles is a pain.)

The devs seem to keep a balance between interesting, which keeps players, and gridiness, which gets them to spend money. Now that I’ve no longer got any hope of spending money lessening the grindiness, I’ve quit spending. At long last, this game is free to play, for me. :-)

I do still look forward to a TO mode. If they put it in as I’ve repeatedly described, I’m thinking many tankers will come back. Getting them back into GFRB will take a bit more, though, and the pilots won’t like it. I am loving how effective SPAA is just now. :-) I smile every time I pop another! That bit is FUN!

A single Ka 50 at the start of a match can deicde the fate of the match. I have seen rounds where a single Ka 50/52 gets like 3 kills at the start of the match, everyone has to stop and hide or try and shoot them, turning away from the enemy etc. and because of the terrible maps this then leads to most of the team being wiped 20m out of spawn.
Top tier CAS jets can easily dodge SACLOS missiles fired at then while effortlessly returning fire with guided missiles. The top tier SPAA need to stand still to guide t he missile, are slow and or big and super easy targets.
Basically there is no way to fight top tier CAS, SPAA is just there to make it less boring for CAS players. This is a plane game, there is no ground mode, there is a plane mode, a plane mode with naval targets and a plane mode with tanks as targets. Gaijin probably makes shitloads of money of people buying top tier premium tanks because they saw the ads, then getting farmed by CAS, then buying CAS themselves.
It’s designed to be frustrating.
Tank only mode would reduce that so they will never do that, all the CAS players that bought 60$ helicopters and Jets would complain about it, the mixed mode would jsut become a farming ground for CAS until no ground players are left and everyone went to the other mode and you end up with Bt 7s at 12.7 trying to get a cap so they can spawn in their stealth jet with cruise missiles early.

The only thing we can hope for is better SPAA but atm it seems that the only stuff we get is there to backfil lower BRs which is nice but that sadly doesn’t change 12.0 atm. Wou;d be cool if more than one techtree had a usable SPAA, that would be a start I think.

Yes I would play a tank only mode. Would it be better overall .Well nobody knows so why don’t Gaijin trial it ? Might be a revelation, might be a disaster. Game is 12 years old and getting no better so who gives a damn either way?
