Although it definetly can promote camping at times and other passive gameplay, the sound isnt all that unrealistic, yes muting your own engine is a little unrealistic, but at the same time there is a reason that in most tank engagements both tanks know of an enemy despite not having it in their line of sight, often due to infantry or UAV scouting (at least in modern battles) so being able to identify tanks with sound sonar in war thunder is just a boiled down version of that in my eyes. And i do really think that settings in game currently only help benefitting the whole community especially the people like @AlvisWisla with impaired hearing.

No. It’s an option, it’s there so it can be used, but it’s not necessarily meant specifically to be used/abused by a common player. Serves the purpose of letting people customize their game depending on their needs, War thunder isn’t meant to be played with muting ones own engine sound. Its meant to let the players adjust the game to their needs and comfort, this does however, in turn allow for players more or less muting solely their own engines whilst having enemies on their 100m sound sonar.
Thinking that moving a slider up/down is abuse.

So you don’t like WT much as the game itself has plenty of highly unrealistic things in it.
I like WT gameplay. Stop telling me.what I like and what I don’t like. I also like WT sound and non-ULQ graphics.
So it’s pretty obvious that when realism and logic hrlp my case, I’m using these. 3rd person view is core element of Realistic Battles and this topic is not about removing fair and even 3rd person view (it’s default for everyone, and you have a mode that removes it while keeping most other ground features intact).
Sound scouting or ULQ should not be as they detract from the experience.
WT is apparently meant to be played with ULQ tok. And I think that’s how this game should be marketed. Sounding and looking like a steaming pile of gaijin target demographic players.
No. Running ultra low graphics on higher end PCs also give an advantage. So does using a HOTAS in sim or having better headphones, none of these options should be removed

Sound and ULQ are fair as everyone has equal access to them.
As default, we have music while being in a match, so everyone that turns that off is cheater/exploiter as well ?

WT is meant to be played however you like, there are only a few restrictions in place.
Game sounds and looks good to me. Looks like it’s a you problem.
They are not fair, as they make the game look and sound like shit.
I’m simply against forcing me to suffer through this just to be competitive.
But for a proper sweatlord it’s not about the experience, but about “winning”, so you simply don’t care how it sounds or looks. I do and I would like such settings to not be forced down my throat. Simple.
ULQ looks good to you because you simply don’t care. It’s like talking with someone with no sense of taste or smell about food - they just don’t care, because why would they.
But some people have a bit higher requirements than “I be curbstomping dem noobz”.
For me f.e. plane damage models are important. I love the new flame effects, I love how the holes appear in the fuselage. For you - doesn’t matter, ULQ all the way baby, exploit every design flaw possible to get an unfair advantage
It’s insane that some people would suppot dipping their own jewels in ghost pepper sauce just to get some more advantage and then would defend this practice, even if it made 0 sense, just like sound scouting does.

I’m against the game forcing me to play with 60fps.
ULQ looks fine in a decade old game. I’m not here to look at scenery and stand in awe looking at trees/grass/shadows etc.
Only literal cheats which are a bannable offense will give you an unfair advantage.
No one is forcing you to play on max settings, meanwhile some people are literally forced to use low graphics as they have weak systems.
Implying doing that is somehow similar to playing on low settings is wild.
ULQ looks like a game from 2003. And it’s the only competitive grahics setting unfortunately. But for people with 0 expectations other than “curbstomp dem noobs” it’s fine. As I said, you don’t care, you just want to have your advantage. I simply enjoy a level playing field where I don’thave to suffer through dogpoop graphics and sound to win. Cause I’m a gamer, not a sweatlord.
And if ULQ is fair, then your definition of “fair” is 100% worthless, as “fair” means nothing.
Hope you encounter a lot of fair 1 death leavers, kill deniers and in ARB - AF campers. Fair like ypu deserve it.

The difference between a cheater and ULQ emjoyer is that one is willing to take more.risks and is a bit more harmful, but they are both unwilling to participate in a fair game.

Then how come its marketed without ULQ? And no the game isnt Meant to be played with muted engines. Im sure you could ask Gaijin themselves. Just because somethings an option doesnt mean its meant to be that way by default, there is a reason the game doesnt start you off with your engine being muted. To give you a different example, Just becasue someone has the option to eat fast foor their entire life doesnt mean they should or that thats the consumption/diet a human body should have. (couldnt think of a simpler metaphore on the spot)

Then how come a fair bunch of players myself included who play on normal to high graphics are above avarage and really good in some cases, ULQ is by no means required, although it would be nice if they block the option to use ULQ if your specs are within good enough to run on high with below 60% CPU and GPU usage, ULQ has been reduced in advantage compared to before, but another simple fix is to just lower total render distance of tanks or something of the sort.
At the end of the day you can think whatever you want. Settings are readily available for everyone, so it’s up to you how you’re gonna set it up.

And you’re basically being a Karen here, telling people how/what to eat. Just because you don’t like (but have access to) fast food, doesn’t mean others should be forbidden to eat it.
Good enough is a very subjective term.

I don’t think it’s moral to play on your high end PC with a 144Hz+ monitor and amazing peripherals against someone using a decade old laptop running the game at 720p and 30 FPS with a crappy/no headset.
Based on this, not downgrading is immoral/unfair and everyone this is applied to should be ashamed.
Thinking that full on cheater is just a bit more harmful than ULQ is beyond delusional.
ULQ is fair because everyone can use it, it’s totally on you if you want to though, but don’t cry about it.
My PC is 11 or 12 years old, thank you, works just fine for top 20 KPB in Air RB.when I fully commit to it.
And if I wasn’t doing good - it’s on me, as the gameplay should be optimised for medium and high settings, and not for people unwilling to spend any money on their PC during average sweatlords lifetime. Seriously.
The gaming experience optimised for dogshit settings is not a pleasant one. You upgraded your PC and expect.to do better? Tough luck, cause Motorola dogshit graphics connoisseur won’t let you be competitive.
If my screen is too small? Tough luck. The better the game looks, the bettter the experience should be.
In WT dogshit sound and graphics are optimal. Using anything but that is disadvantageus.

Full on cheater is just taking the same unfair gameplay idea to a higher level. It’s just a bit higher intensity of the same mindset, that hates fair play. At least with cheaters - they are taking risks, while AF AAA and ULQ exploiters risk nothing and sit in an endless reward loop.
ULQ is not absolutely required. But it helps big time. You are basically handicapping yourself.
I’m not asking to make ULQ crowd have higher difficulty. I am asking for equal chances for people using high settings and normal sound settings
