Remove Enemy Nametags in ARB

given how spotting work for me so far
i refuse

That would be cool as well, but I think it’d be better suited for lower tier planes or those without radar. It’d be cool to see a greater shift towards radar reliance at higher tiers, beyond using them for missiles

This would suck at prop tier, and with any plane that lacks a radar. I’m open to a rework, but you can’t remove name tags without drastically changing air RB. I’ll quote myself from another topic I made discussing something similar.

This solves several issues that markers have, while not completely removing them.

Arcade has in-air reloads

Is this only for name tags or does this include markers in general?

Seeing as it’s not directly PvP, I think it would be fine if the ground AI unit markers and the markers for bases were preserved, I just feel it removes the possibility for more strategic gameplay if PvP encounters can be seen and predicted form 10km away

Yeah I think a 4km initial detection range (you can see a person on the minimap and their name is displayed), a 2km further detection range (you can see the general type of plane i.e. F-18) and a 1-.5km detection range (you can see the full type of plane, and maybe the player’s title i.e F/A-18c Early / Pyromaniac) would be pretty interesting. Obviously, the detection range values would be up for discussion, but I think it’d offer a pretty interesting rework

How about missile markers?

Forgive me if my missile terminology is a little off (only recently got to high tier air) but IR Missiles and those not detected by RWR systems would not receive a marker, but those that would normally alert the user, like SARH and ARH AAMs would receive a marker

So remove markers for IR unless you have MAWS?

Yeah, basically. You’re not able to detect a missile (and therefore ping it with a marker) if you don’t have the proper warning systems

That’s not a bad idea.

Completely removing the type of plane (beyond single/multi engine props and jets, which could be shown at a closer distance) shown at longer ranges without any other changes to the maker system could be beneficial too. This would also tie in nicely with how some radars can now show the type of plane it is locking.

Would lead to some aim9m carrier going up in br.

Overall, if they made rendering better, i wouldnt mind these changes

I’d be for it, if they actually fixed enemy visibility when unspotted. I’ve had people render in 3km from me despite looking in their direction.
If they make it so all planes are rendered in at all times reducing the spotting range would be nice.

you can go in simulator if you dont want nametags

You can go in arcade if you want nametags.

Very productive discussion.

i can actually go in realistic

So brave.

I like the idea, but I don’t like it for the sole reason that ARB maps are just congested and I don’t trust GAIJIN enough for it to be implemented right. So it wouldn’t matter anyway because most of the fighting are just furballs and the general populace of ARB wouldn’t care too much because they want fast fights and fast payouts.

Been saying it for years now, remove those nametags and plane id would change the game a lot in a good way.

It would force poeple to use their eyes and would allow for strike aircrafts to effectively use the ground as a good concealment for once.

Spread the bases/objectives on the whole map and remove the damn missile markers, no pilot can see something directly on their 6 from multiple km.

What we have now as “realistic” is just a less arcady arcade mode.

But for it to work they need to get rid of the render distance of planes/tanks, they need to be rendered in at all times at all distances, there’s no logical reason to see a plane 10km out when it’s spotted but when it’s not spotted it renders out of existence.

Removing nametags would absolutely shatter rhe meta at every BR without radars.

Afk climbing for 5 minutes at the start of every prop match would no longer be mandatory. IR missile brs would favor range over everything else more than it already does, but maybe r60 slingers might get some chance in hell to get close enough before being noticed if the person is listening to music lol.
