Removal of chat timer

It should be removed, it’s a hinderance to any chat.

Well, that got the coffee onto my screen…

(I stand by my statement)

  1. Ad hominems are what you do when you know you have nothing valid to say on the topic

  2. Dumb nonsense anyway, you can just click on my name and see I spend like 1h 30m a day in matches, lol.

And which works just fine with the spam timer unless you want to give a running commentary on what each of the tanks had for lunch etc.

No, some situations, especially tactically “dense” ones, need the possibility to quickly add or update chat information.

Say I warn a player about an enemy nearby. Five seconds later I notice he is indeed targeting my mate. Or that he disengaged. Or that another enemy has started following him.

So I will have to wait 25 seconds to update him with urgent, important information?!?

You really think he’s not going to be dead in 25 seconds while you peck out an essay?

The ‘Essay’ and the ‘Lunch’ quip, are genuinely showing you are only being disingenuous…

(I absolutely stand by my statement, flaggers should be disabled and the feature should be ignored)

Sure. But:

  1. I was responding to your claim that that sort of thing should only be done through the buttons, not chat. You literally said it was inappropriate to use chat for this at all, and I explained why I disagree.

  2. The timer can still be a limitation for this. It does happen that you need to point out something else before the 30s are over, without being spammy.

Hypothetically, suppose you’ve just pinged the location of the aforementioned T-44-100, then you see something in the air, look at it, and press 6 - 1 to get the air call out. Most times that suffices as it will alert your friendly SPAA and planes.

But what if instead you want to say “Pe8!!” Or “Lancaster”? Ground units that might understandably be too busy to worry about air in general this very moment, might still like to know that a mini nuke might be incoming to the cap they’re retaking, or whatever. The calculus changes.

“T-44 on mark” and “Pe8” are extremely brief but very useful tidbits of info. They fit into one line and it’s not exactly play by play commentary. So yes, the timer can screw with that.

On the other hand if you just remove it, it’s likely to bring disaster. I’m not blind to that.

I was thinking that maybe you could put a limit to how much wordcount you can write every 30 seconds, so that brevity and accuracy in comms are encouraged, but of course that’s very easy to abuse too by posting one letter at a time. So I dunno.

I’m not writing essays. Just short, informative bursts of information - but sometimes more frequently than every half minute, if the situation dictates.

Some people indeed DO try to work as a team, and for that to work, information is crucial. And information is only useful if balanced (not too much or too little info) and ON TIME.

Note: I’m a VR player, and writing anything in chat is already a challenge as I need to take off my goggles for it. So also for this I keep my messages as few and as short as possible.

Example: In a Sim EC match I might notice several threats to a player that I know will run straight into.

Say, I am a A-10, working a ground battle, noticing an A-6 in the same area, heading for a mission target. And as I’m in the area already for a while, I also know of two bandits in the vicinity, tracking their flights warily…

So I may start with a “Follow me” radio message, so my position is pinged and he knows where I am, then I will ping the position of a first threat to him on the map, and write “MIG21”, then ping a second position and write “SU25”.

That’s 2 pings and 2 radio messages within 10 seconds - currently an impossibility…

Not much of an essay, but he knows what to expect, what the dots he may see are, or where he should keep his eyes to spot the potential threats.

You don’t respond to actual arguments, so why would I bother continuing offering them. You’re also incapable of grasping inferences. It’s embarrassing. Maybe you’re just choosing not to acknowledge them as if that will help you somehow “win” an argument. lol
I’ve been reading through the forums, and I see you and Exocetta in just about every thread I’ve visited offering the same snarky, debunking, dismissive feedback. I’ve seen your type in many game forums.

If you don’t like chat or think it’s useless then simply disable it in the options. Let those that want to use it, use it.

For a teamwork based game, the chat timeout is a detrimental feature. Especially in Sim. It’s a constant hindrance to gameplay when I can’t communicate to my team. Seconds are an eternity in air combat.

Of course it happens, but the reverse happens vastly more often.

At the very least, allow people to dynamically filter the two situations from one another in a way that doesn’t get them killed mid-battle. For example, have a key binding that mutes the most recent person that did any communication, only until the end of this match (kind of like “T” for thanking the guy who just repaired you, but not showing in the middle of your screen of course)

So then I can mute idiots who spam 95% of the time without having to stop and open a menu and die to a tank shooting me while I do, but I can also choose not to if the person is being helpful. If I want it to last permanently, then once the match is over and I have time, I can go do that with a traditional blacklist.

Chat delay in squadron chat box is so ridiculous and should removed when i can just open personal chat or discord with squamate and do exact same thing but without 30 second delay on a message you cant see counter on and deletes your message. I understand some delay in normal battles but here you are with people you want to chat with and be in squad in the 1st place.

You are such a spaz. Requesting features for dynamic muting of players. hahahahaha why do you even play this game if you hate everybody so much

And that, is why you end up muted…

And that is why you end up hated for killing the community.

But you’re abusing people for no reason, and that’s why you end up being subject to the rules you agreed to.

The rules are about conduct, not about being enforced upon by fellow players. If you have any allies in this fight it’s people that share your toxic ideology, not for who you are. It’s a clique of users that use the report button, and they target players outside the realm of chat while hiding under the skirts of the admin that review the reports.
