Regarding the Hull Armor of the M1A2 SEP V3

This includes NEA (Next Evolution Armor) which we’ve outlined is replacing old internal turret and hull armor.

But gaijin would need to estimate the improvements which @Necrons31467 had provided a estimated increase

That being a proposed 35% increase in effectiveness

I’d like to link the report he made (which was rejected)

One thing that should be noted is that composite armor improvement does not necessarily require significant weight growth, especially for the relatively small volume of the Abrams hull. Various documents show that the US Army kept developing high-performance armor with trivial or even no weight growth, such as the FY94 armor with 25% improvement against KE, the 1995 TCA armor with 33% improvement, and the NEA that is “lighter and better in protection”

I’m already expecting the usual promises that almost never come true

This kinda defeats their weight argument, seeing how both the turret and the hull have counterweights and the vehicle is driving just fine

“So we dont know and theres documents showing more armor but where just going to slightly buff it so you guys dont get mad”

  • gaijin

Also gaijin, HO RI doesnt exist, double rack r-77, t80b thermals, bmp3 thermals etc. Several fictional items for balance reasons, yet gaijin requires the president and all of congress to give us the DU armor suite.

Then add at least one Abrams like that to the game

Good post. Thank you

Hey Smin, do you happen to have any new info regarding the dev’s plans with the SEPv3 turret add on armor plates? I was curious since they were still WiP on the dev.

The changes are still WIP whilst the devs continue to work on the Abrams. Hence why a final value was not listed within the blog.

Why post the blog when you have no info about the improvement ?

Also where is Trophy APS on sepv3?

The day in service V3 have Trophy fitted

Fort Benning probably

Because this was a huge subject to cover with a lot of other technical information beyond just the final value.

As well as to detail our ongoing plans.

However, can we assume, whichever the final value may be, that they will be abiding by the notion that “no tangible improvement was possible because there weren’t volume or enough of a mass change”?

This was a quoted part of the original post that shows the offending source and has since been removed so i have removed it from my reply

Hey so that is still classified (i would like to add that this isnt confirmation it remains classified and gaijin may have something saying its not but from my perspective it is still not legal)

So much about “we dont use classified” huh

Nice

I’d really like to understand how an ERA Relict element, with extremely thin and lightweight dimensions, offers 200mm of protection against kinetic weapons… the estimated weight of the Relict plates on the chassis alone is about 1 ton. But following the logic of this post, for the Americans to have increased effective armor against kinetic munitions, would a substantial increase in weight be necessary?

Following the physics logic of War Thunder, it would be unnecessary to spend the budget on extremely heavy and complex armor; simply stacking 4 Relict elements would provide 800mm of protection against kinetic munitions, without taking up much space and being lightweight… lol
