Leopard 2A7V- The most underperforming tank in the entire game

I don`t own experts to it and it is still quite stock… Tho its just me being too cocky with it as first spawn pick. You can also see i dont have same trouble with 2a6, and i dont believe you want to argue that 2a6 is better than 2a7 in any way.

Calling the best tank in the game an underperformer makes absolutely no sense. I will never understand why the hyper-focus is always on heavy armor. Anything more than a stable turret is just dead weight. Mobility, gun handling, and fire control systems are significantly more important in actual gameplay. The 2A7 is on a completely different level of performance. Anyone who has actually played the Type 10 or the Leclerc knows they are awesome tanks, but the 2A7 easily outperforms them. If you want to talk about a real top-tier underperformer, look at the T-90M—that is where the actual performance issues are.Even if we look at real-life performance, we have much bigger problem children to worry about.

Yes, and the nose is a problem. Shooting higher in games is always a risk of a ricochet - you rarely fight plain grounds. And some lower shots get tricky. I can believe that its just me having not enough fast thinking, but im a little too old to argue about that. Not even taking in question shooting a moving or faraway target when there is always a chance to hit that part.

Well it depends on angles of hits. And if its not horizontals, you`re just dead, as usual with top tier.

That means either that they are perfectly balanced or they are overperforming. And it being german and not receiving buffs means even more (yes i look at you PzIV series).

Honestly about the PzIV changes I dont really know why exactly because they were fine Imo, but still at least from my Experience (with like 613 Battles on the 2A7V) I rarely have had shots bounced on the very top of the UFP (unless they were an Extreme angle). But about the Nose its not exactly that big of a Hinderence if you have played against Russian Tanks (Looking at you T90Ms) have a bigger non Pen Zone than the Leos (which both the T90 or a BVM have with the Relikt and the LFP is often not seen and the Driver´s Hatch is a gamble and the Breach Area aswell is a Gamble with that Trunnion) but I still believe the Leopards need some change at least in the Current Meta.

PS: Yes i get that this arguing is getting a bit tedious with the back and forth And I do respect your Side of this discussion because on one hand yes the 2A7 is a really capable MBT that can do things if you have the Skill and the Crew for it but on the other you cant exactly rely on a small spot on the hull front that isnt even properly modelled (its missing the entire lower part of the armor can be easily penetrated by even 3BM42). I will head off now and have a nice one Milashny😃

Can you elaborate or provide something?

Not allowed to anymore, let’s just put it that way.

FMV still hasnt responded to my request regarding this matter.

Anyway (partially because gaijin forgot to remove the presentation from older posts that are still up [regarding 2a7v hull armour]) 2A7V currently performs worse than Strv 122’s, despite being known to feature a newer/more advanced composite package. (Strv 122’s are also underperforming in comparison to the data in the presentation to begin with)
This is primarily due to our favorite indie dev forgetting to apply the Strv 122’s additional KE modifier to the 100mm NERA screens (that are essentially identical) on 2A7V, thus resulting in lower performance.

But then again, same company that somehow made the peak KE RHAE on Leopard 2RI higher than on 2A7V despite 2RI featuring worse composites (B-Tech)…

So not like anything should be surprising anymore.

The glacis plate is not penetrable.

Please use the correct camera angle.

Great take, let me file it
Rest of the fire
Ok done… now…

As much as I want believe that, I unforunately can say that the upper Glacis can still be penetrated by either of these 3 rounds. (And yes i Fully zoomed out it shows at 80° at 0° Angle)

1: 3BM60 (BVM)

2: OFL 120 F1 (Leclerc)

3: L27A1 (Black Night)

Then you didn’t read the chart which I provided you with properly. Please read it again.

You still have the camera level with the gun and that’s wrong. Alternatively, just disable the ‘‘Consider camera vertical angle’’ option on the bottom left.

The constructional angle of that portion of armour is 82°, 3BM-60 has a 100% chance of ricochet at 81° and higher.

No proof or mention it has upgraded armor pver the 2a7V.

DM63/ is equal/less to DM53.
DM73 is minimal increase.

DM83 is not out of development.

“Abramses” seems like something gollum would say ngl

do you have a golden ring you call “my precious” perchance?

simple plural form for “Abrams” tho.

No, but i have a car i call “my precious” umu

Just because English is weird, plural for Abrams is still just “Abrams”

why? Bc English needs to give anyone who reads their rules a fatal headache :)

Why, i read it earlier that its Abramsses xD

Amen

Also about protection and survivability:

i never, EVER got oneshotted on Leopard. Thus the reasoning. You see how several first shots do nothing to crew compartment? And there is nothing harded for enemy to kill than Leopard. T-90 in the same situations would be dead second shot.

Surviving a penetration isn’t the same as being combat effective. Even if the 2A7V doesn’t get one-shot, turret basket damage often cripples the tank by disabling turret traverse, gun handling or crew effectiveness. In practice, that leaves the vehicle unable to fight and usually results in a follow-up kill within seconds. Calling that ‘better survivability’ is misleading because the tank is effectively out of the battle even if it’s technically still alive.
The Leopard 2A7V also needs its D-Tech armor package to be modeled more accurately. At the moment, its protection does not reflect the real vehicle. If Gaijin wants to keep the game as realistic as possible, the D-Tech armor should receive the appropriate protection improvements based on available evidence.

Thats what I also notice ingame. Its armor is not suffucient and the spall liner isn’t what it was on release. No defense vs missiles. Slow. Restricted turret traverse. Basket mechanic. Its just not a good tank.

Especially embarassing that the UFP is so easy to pen. Still.

Are you really trying to argue over if the best tanks in game is bad?

100% while the Type 90 and especially Type 10 are my two favorite tanks in WT the Type 10 is heavily butchered in so many ways and ive given up on trying to get it fixed since gaijin is so horrible to work with
