Re-balance of ground vehicles from medium ranks

Hi, today i wanted to make a very resumed list of the special cases in ground battles about certain tanks being too overpowered or too weak for their respective BRs and how to change that for good.

The analysis is determinated by the vehicles’ global stats (based on the players’ performance) and the respective stats of the vehicles compared with other vehicles from their same BR to find incongruencies that deserve a closer look.

If u have any opposite opinion about any of this changes, pls tell me and we’ll try to discuss it properly to come to an agreement.

I created this post in search of different opinions and experiences from other players, so the main changes u see in the topic will not be permament, and they’ll change as the community chats here.
The goal would be to make this topic reach the devs to finally re-balance some vehicles from one of the hardest tiers in the game, where old tanks meet modern technology that outpasses their capacities to fight properly in the battlefield.

Pls be kind and don’t harass me or other player for having a different opinion, everybody experiences everything in a different way.

I wouldn’t mind the 9.3 BR, if they fixed the armour, mobility and buffed the fire rate. (and replaced the fake L23 shell for the real L23A1 shell)

Just no. Not until they fix the missiles to actually deal damage at the very least. It deals about 1/10th the shrapnel damage of missiles equal in size. Its really dumb. Needing multiple missiles to bring down basically anything means this change really isnt a good idea. Id almost go as far to say that it should be 9.3

Thank you for the data, it really helps! :)

Woah
So many games to come to these conclusions

Please no one take this bait, they clearly have no clue what they’re talking about lmao.

I mean come on, ST-A3 to 7.0 lmao? The Chaparral to 9.3? The FV102 to 8.7, 8.7.

I will only speak for vehicles I have experienced as those are the ones that I know of.
The BTR ZD is really not that strong. 48 mils of pen on a gun with no apds and limited ammo is already really limiting and the reason it is strong stems more from the hellcat spam. And doing spaa work at 6.7 would be depressing
Ratel 20 to 7.0 is pretty wild. ATGMs make it seem strong until you realize it is the same as the 90, but with less ammo, low velocity, guiding time, and destrucable projectiles, not to mention the abhorrent chassis they are on.
Peak T58 idea lol
Somua SM is just peak compression. It would get eaten at 8.0. It would lose it’s armor advantage as everyone else has HEAT and APDS almost guaranteed, gun would be below average because of the lack of high pen ammo, mobility is average, not stable. The reload is the only thing going for it.
Type 89 is fine imo. The missles are not that great (poor angles, low speed, not tandem) and the gun is strong, but has the limitations of being an autogun and can’t front pen anything big. It has good mobility, but not outstanding, poor armor, and large size

Not sure if I buy this one. It’s not really that much more effective than the AML-90 (I’d even argue the smaller profile is advantageous in many situations) and it’s nowhere near as effective as something like Obj 906.

Overall we really just need decompression from 7.3-9.3, even just two more BR steps over that range would, in my opinion, have a huge impact

Vehicles are balanced based on player performance is the surface level of this demanding work. Keeping in mind that you have 4 total battles I’m assuming that this is a alternative account given the knowledge to write this post.

You’d need to consider not only the vehicles whose battle rating was changed but the vehicles around indirectly positively or negatively affected by those battle rating changes not just kill-death ratio. If that were the case R-400 would be much lower and E-100 would be much higher as example.

ST-A3 is a mobile tank with an autoloader at a BR where most tanks rather don’t have the type of ammo it uses, or the mobility or the reload to counter it.
compared with a Tiger II or T34, it’s actually really good (tho these 3 have different playstyles).

the Chaparral has missiles at a BR where nobody else has, and it also fases flareless subsonic jets in downtiers, paired with it’s upgraded MIM (which is smokeless btw), it’s a really deadly SPAA and it can only be countered by planes with countermesures or ground vehicles.

and i didn’t put a FV102, but if u’re talking about the EFV, it’s a really big target with a decent cannon and no armor at a high BR, so it makes sense.

also i want u to remember that these changes aren’t permanent, and if u have a different opinion, u can say it without any problem, just try to keep it on topic ;)

the game needs indeed a BR decompression, idk why Gaijin would make 14.7 for planes but not for tanks.
it feels quite unfair that only the flying vehicles have this kind of change.

The issue with vehicle stats is that each nation’s aggregate playerbase has a meaningfully different level of experience/skill

tho it’s not a really good anti-tank SPAA, it’s a really really good anti-air against WW2 planes, since the soviet 23mm are cold-war/modern era cannons at a BR of 1945 vehicles.

gonna keep this in mind, ty for the opinion :D

yeah, the Somua is a really special case, since it’s too good for 7.7, but would be annihilated by 9.0 tanks like the Leopard A1A1 and the T-62M-1, but as always, it’s all about decompressing the BRs.

thx for the advice, gonna keep it in mind too!

if u have a different opinion to mine, u can always express it here to reach an agreement and edit the topic till it’s finally polished.

that’s very generic and not very telling as to why these should be done

Let’s start with this:

or ESPECIALLY this, why?

the M56 is a very nimble and little TD with a powerful gun for it’s BR, it’s only weakness is literally it’s non-existant armor, which isn’t much of a problem if u know how to hide it.

it’s playstyle is very similar to the ASU-57.

a 6 Second auto loader, a whole .7 seconds faster than the standard NATO 90mm reload. A lot of vehicles have faster or similar reloads at that BR, M41 tops out at 5.9s, the 20 pdr 6.1s, the ASU-85 has 6s dead. And the ammunition is the same as other American 90mm guns sans HESH.

Okay but they’re terrible missiles. 17G of pull is not hard to bleed of energy, and the stats back that up; with a Kills per Spawn of 0.55 for the US version and 0.49 for the Israeli version.

It’s not fast, it’s just small and isn’t bad at accelerating.

It doesn’t have this. What it does have is HEAT-FS, which is a common trend I’m seeing in your uptiers. You’re just blanket rushing every HEAT-FS vehicle upwards without thinking about how this affects their performance. I have to imagine you have an opinion that says something like “HEAT-FS vehicles do not belong at WW2 BRs”

It’s weaknesses are that its gun relies on HEAT-FS to penetrate things frontally which does not do high damage, it not only has “low” armor but quite literally has 0mm armor as every single 7.62 machine gun in the game can frontally kill this vehicle instantly, and the fact its not actually that fast, just agile and small.

Sure

How does this make sense

Conqueror has a gun with really good pen and decent damage paired with stabilizer and insane armor, it’s only weakspot (LFP) can be hidden easily behind something like a rock.
it also has a very decent depression and reload time for a tank with a big gun, similar to the T34.

i know it’s very controversial due to it’s mobility, cannon, reload and deficient armor against chemical rounds or APDS, so i would like u to tell me some reasons about why it’s a good tank at 7.7 so i can have a more clear idea about ur experience with it.

I have missed and killed it with the over-pressure from 17pdr HE fusing on the ridge line infront of the poor guy.
