how could i forget about mighty ki87 and ki94 filthy high altitude fight forcers!
F8F really begins to lose a lot of horsepower once you get to above 3000 meters. You get a good climbrate but you’re not blessed by Gaijin like the Yak-3s where you have perpetual motion cold fusion reactors as engines to keep your speed. You can really feel yourself slow down Especially as your engine inches really close sub 2000 around that alt range.
The difference is the Yak 1 and Yak 3 are both actually good. the F6F and F8F are both meh.
It’s strange to name the F8F specifically if you want changes for a number of vehicles.
Idk about the A6M2, however P-51C is better than the F8F. The F6F-5N is just overtiered, it’s bad to compare F8F to an overtiered prop and use that to say the F8F is undertiered.
It is . . .
Spitfire, P-47, Yak-3/9, Typhoon, Bf 109 G-2, La 5/7, you can prolly group the F4U-4 in aswell.
Fw 190D-9 is faster with stronger guns. Yes the F8F outturns it, however neither the Fw 190 nor the F8F will really be outturning anything else anyways.
If he isn’t getting close then he’s not a threat.
Maybe a noob pursuer, and only if they let you extend.
You cannot even understand what ‘extreme exaggeration’ is. Right?
Because this topic is about F8F?
Look up, check the title.
If both P-51C and F8F-1 shared the same BR, I would choose F8F over P-51C even though F8F-1’s engine is as hot as butter. Either 3.7 or 4.7BR.
I just mentioned that sluggish weird F6F-5N which remains 4.3BR facing F8F-1 is brutal.
I didn’t directly compare it for justifications.
You are the one who brought F6F-3 in 3.3BR instead to justify your claim.
Oh, I never knew that 4.3 and 4.7BR are obviously a higher gap.
Then, as a joke, how about sending Spitfire LF Mk.IX down from 5.7 to 5.0 because one step is still a big gap? /s
Logic isn’t a skill of yours. Aren’t ya?
underperformance of 4x12.7 at the rank where everyone shoots funny 20 mils.
And I reiterate, naming the F8F specifically when it’s far from the strongest at its BR is rather odd.
I gotta disagree with you there.
I said the F6F 3.3 is already bad at its own BR, and the F8F is 1.0 higher with rather small upgrades. Kinda like F4U-1C being 2.0 higher than F4U-1A.
Sounds like we cannot discuss Ken Miles because Bruce McLaren won the race.
Even if F8F-1 isn’t “STRONGEST” at its BR, as long as she is overperforming, we can discuss.
Especially when the main topic of the thread is her.
First fair take from you on this topic… :/
It is your own right to prefer P-51C over F8F-1, right?
Personal preferences…
First of all, F8F-1 is 4.7BR instead of 4.3BR
4.7-3.3= 1.0(X), 1.4(O)
Are you discussing the vehicle which you don’t know?
:kekw:
I never touched original Bearcat, but if it’s the same as the canon one performance-wise, ths is absolutely criminal at 4.7. Maybe 4 .50 cals is not that much, but, as a good man said: Weak armament means little if you can create infinite amount of firing solutions due to your overwhelming flight performance.
It’s not overperforming. Not by a long shot. pretty much every other plane is better.
If you think she isn’t overpowered…
I reckon that it is because you excluded almost every other plane, which is worse than F8F-1 in the name of ‘no one plays it’
You wiped them out from the table.
Just like how Galm wiped B7R. :/
Oh, just for clarification, of course I didn’t include Heavy Bombers such as B-17 or Stilling in 4.7BR. :P
We explained why you were wrong, and it seems you are the one who doesn’t listen.
Beakcat as a boom-zoom plane cant keep the sight on the enemy for long, therefore its performance aint that good.
Its stupid to count cacti that needs a BR made lower to proof that F8F needs a br made higher, isnt it?
Yes, I excluded B-17 which clearly means F8F is undertiered
Is it tho? I played 6.3 version and could comfortably dogfight anything that isn’t a dogfight monster like Yak-3U at low altitude or Mk 24 spit at 5 kilometers
Problem is, apart of those there arent many options to meet. You may certainly meet the Tempest, but its more maneuverable. And them Japs are also no-go to maneuver. Germans are less maneuverable for sure, and i think you`ll be at even terms with late Mustang and Super Corsair. With exceptions of course, it makes F8F a boom-zoom plane. Its just safer that way as 4x20s are pretty good. But with MGs? I had a bad time trying to shoot down some planes.
Only B-17? I think not. I think you excluded more than just B-17.
There are more planes exists more than just Yak and Spirfire.
Hmm… seems now even reading isn’t a skill of yours…
You know that there is not just boom-zoom and “hold S” playstyles?
Feel free to 1v1 anybody using another 4.7 that is not a yak-3 or spitfire and see what happens
Well, even if we consider your claim is right, just for arguing’s sake.
1- Gaijin doesn’t care about those rubbishes, so sending overperforming one higher is the only option.
They told us that “Not enough statistics-”
2- Your take just sounds similar to Pangolin’s one.
that are two general terms applied to the basic positioning of a plane. Sure you`ll describe something as general as third option right?
Doesnt it? I see several machines moved down each BR change as they get bad.
