Well, sad news is that R-74M, the newest of newest prototypes from Russian IR AAM probably still doesnt use an IIR.
yup, they saw how favorable it was in comparison to the 9L and saught the edge they thought they allready held.
If so, then it is a least reliable missile ever, since it was not one but at least dozen claimed downed.

AFAIK DCS has a problem with inaccurately modelling missiles and flares.
R-74 is maybe the “equivalent” to AIM-9X. The base R-73 certainly is not.
The AIM-9M in game is currently extremely competitive and relevant along with the R-73. That’s your equivalent.
Overall I think you have a bias that makes you think the USA suffers in air, but this is about the farthest from the truth as you can get, as the USA is the most pampered and babied air nation and that’s been true for half a decade at least.
Which is why they’re saying they are going to remodel their r-27 family of missiles. Because their modelling isn’t as accurate as they could be.
The 9M performs very worse than the 9L in the rear, I can’t understand if the 9M is an upgrade of the 9L or not, it’s more like a trade off

There are times where I wonder if I have even taken Aim-9Ms, because their flare resitstance can sometims be almost identical. Both are definetly underperforming

aim9m is not even close to be equivalent of r73
aim9m is pathetically easy to dodge, r73 on the other hand if fired in range is 99.9% certain death.
this is a cope take by somebody who only plays USA vehicles so doesn’t actually know how both sides play
I agree think the F15 is terrible along with the 9M
could say the same about you considering you dont have a plane with aim9m
Anyone who thinks the F-15 is terrible just isn’t very good at the game unfortunately.
