Punishment for the Zombers

For far too long the AF bombers in air sim have been far too common and quite annoying if trying to win a match. it’s one thing if someone does it here and there, but there are whole matches full of people doing nothing but AF bombing. And what has it caused? sim rewards to progressively be nerfed and nerfed and nerfed for years. You can by all means go into these matches and kill them yes, but sometimes though there are so many your team loses no matter how many objectives that you play and how many you kill. Then you’ve got the insults they like to throw, and the “pve” rhetoric they seem to believe in so hard it’s as vital as air to them. There has recently been a few ban waves on passive players. But it seems the ones in Sim have been completely missed.
What needs to happen is for there to be stricter rules surrounding this ridiculous problem. For reports to be taken into more consideration than to just “file” it in one of those square containers with a machine on top that shreds anything that goes inside.

Farming the event points, nothing more. When the event is over, this thing will also be over.

yeah, no, it still happens when there are no events.
it is a cancer on the game, and it is the reason why Sim mode has trash rewards these days.

I think rewarding after landing might solve it, those players that fly camicaze flights to bomb ennemy airfields. And those who just rush for bases? Thay would be always in air since thay dont need to wait for a reward. With death you lose everthing but that isnt tant bad. Rewarding after landing would make players acualy learn how to land because most likely noone land back on an airfield, thay just crash or die. With this rewarding noone would be waiting for a reward at the airfield and by that there would be much more activity in the game.

Killing people crying over “this is pve server” will never become boring.
“haha, missile faster than bomber”

Haha, missile slower than the 1-second delayed J-out :)

Zomber haters will be disappointed. Airfield zombers have never been and will never be banned. The “ban wave” is on those players who act against the rule, such as teamkilling PvP players or ask for PvE in chat. Suicide attacking the airfield itself, is never considered a punishable offense.

The only way to fix this is to make other options more appealing. Make PvP more rewarding and less punishing without decreasing rewards elsewhere.

Just need to beef up the SAM at the AF. There’s a gap in air defense at the airport, which gives zomber an opportunity.

Also give kill credit to enemy players within 5 km and players with radar/missile lock on the target if they J out or crash undamaged. Knowing that possibly more enemies will be getting rewards if they die will be a good incentive for them to at least attempt to stay alive. Maybe make it count as finishing them off rather than a full kill if the full reward seems too much.

Im confused so you should not be bombing in SIM or? I dont get this whole Zombers thing…Just sit in interceptor and destroy those bombers, simple as that and if they in your team, why do you care, let people play however they want its not against the rules, right?

That is what we do. Zombers ignore lock warnings, complain about being shot at, insist that everyone on “their” server only kills bots, and mass report players that shoot them down.

Im quite sure this is against TOS and gonna get them banned

Report them. If they cross this line, we get them.

Let them. If they cross that line, we get them too.

Collusion between opposing players in a game is a reportable offence isn’t it?

You ARE supposed to be doing the OBJECTIVE in Air sim AND ACTIVELY PLAYING.

Here’s what zombers do:

  1. They ignore “Attention to Grid Square” pings and do NOT respond with T-4-1, so you spend a ton of time chasing them if you’re flying pre-IFF aircraft because they’re flying suspiciously (black dot in the sky where airfield flashed yellow or base got bombed or recent killfeed showing ground targets destroyed).
  2. They do NOT respond to T-4-1 with their own T-4-1 even when you’re 5 kilometers out, forcing you to always face check bombers and risk getting shot at by their magical auto-IFF spam gunner/cockpit view tech (the bomber gunners automatically point cursor at nearest enemy even if visibility makes it impossible to tell within some 7 kilometers or so. In sim, you don’t get confirmation as a fighter well under 1km - the camo is just a black silhouette even without the blue markers being considered and thanks to sweden and china, we got tons of copy paste bombers, so you can’t rely on silhouette. I’ve got way too many teamkills in my A6M3 thinking “b-25 = kill.”
  3. They J out rather than fight back, denying kills after chasing them on intercept course
  4. They crash their planes to deny kills if they see you
  5. They repeatedly drop bombs on enemy airfield modules without draining tickets rather than playing the objective.
  6. Complains when shot down, calls for PvE. I’ve encountered a zomber who told me to go “fly RB” because I dared play the objective (defend my team’s assets).

A good bomber is one that:

  1. Pays attention and communicates their position when requested either through “Attention to Grid square” or T-4-1.
  2. Broadcasts their position when attacked (T-4-2) and does their best to stay alive for escorts to arrive, fighting tooth and nail to gun down the enemy interceptor.
  3. Uses their third person view to survey/scout the enemy side of the team and communicates likely positions of enemy fighters using “Air Alert” so that the team can organize ambush or defence.
  4. Plays the objective (Bombing bases, ground units/naval units and only defaults to airfields when there’s nothing to drop bombs on to prioritize ticket bleed).
  5. Does NOT J out or intentionally crash

Bonus points: They’re alive and talking in chat and communicate their intent and allow escort fighters to meet up with them so that I can fly my mustang as-in-tended and dive on people thinking my team’s bomber is an easy target and have some fun teamplay that’s somewhat immersive as well.

Extra bonus points: Bombers do the above, plural. I only ever see this when it’s Wingaling dragon memeing around or there’s no grind event happening. Most often it occurs on Dover Strait (seems the Larpiest map). During events I see the opposite - bombers being jerks to their team and bad sportsmanship to the enemy team to maximize score/minute

Addendum edit:

This is also why I hate zombers.

Look at BR bracket. Look at map size. Look at top speed of aircraft at this BR bracket (still gives score with event vehicles).

It’s funny how during the event I keep seeing afganisthan/Vietnam/Denmar/etc being spammed 1-4 and then rarely if ever do I see it outside of it.

I tought rewards in SIM are mediocre so why whould all those people grind points for Event? IMPO Air realistic is quickest and most efficiant way to grind points. I see SIM as like serious mode, like Im grinidng to get to top tires of few nations, gonna buy me some nice joystick probabbly for start T.flight Hotas 4 and probabbly get into SIM squad and then play it…

Going solo in SIM and doing your thing is just waste of time, you have Arcade and Realistic for that.
SO I get frustration of people who play SIM when these “event grinders” come and ruin everyones fun.

IIRC, rewards ≠ points.

I think those are two completely different things, not sure if they are even directly related. For example you get additional rewards when you land successfully in Sim, but this won’t affect your mission points (which I think are the crucial part for events)

Not against the rules (as long as not automated), except to some extent 3./4. and of course 6, depending on severity.

Thing is also, 1. and 2. don’t necessarily identify them as zombers. They can also be new and not know the procedures yet, be to busy or distracted to do so (guilty of this from time to time myself), or may even not have relevant commands/controls (e.g. console players who may have limited available controls), I could imagine.

True, and all those points are valid not only for bombers, but for all players.
