Probability about Uptier and Downtier

Some players called it as ELO when you matchmaking, not related to BR system but game matchmake. You can find some clips and video on Bilibili about some player test about it on War Thunder, but the data is player made as your data made by hand.

Matchmaking system is complex, and it would be possible that the system depends on your skill (recent KDs)/BR and more parameters.

So if you want to make something about BR uptier or downtier, you need to exclude other parameters could affect your data.

Is this an officially announced mechanic? This is the first I’ve ever heard of any sort of SBMM or ELO system in the game. My understanding is that officially there is no SBMM, or it has never been acknowledged at the very least.

Every MMO game has such system, but Gaijin hadn’t announced whether they have it or how theirs work.

That’s not meaning Gaijin has announced something. What I want to explain here is “OP’s test must exclude some parameters could affect his result due to the matchmaking system is complex”.

I mean I figured it existed, but I would never have thought a forum moderator or anyone would acknowledge it.

Thanks bro. u r doing a true hard work.
i want to add a little more:
Some nations had just only 1 or even no vehicles in specific BRs,such as FR4.3,Germ4.7.
“How many vehicles"can be a reference for"popularity”,bc players always want to play BRs which have diverse tanks.

Yes of course, but it is still interesting

I always noticed the same pattern where a dead br will have more downtiers, dead br like a br with single vehicle or something, used to be a time 10.7 was always full downtiers because it only has a T-90A there with a SPAA, until a lot of 10.3s got moved up then current 10.7 stopped seeing full downtiers.

really?
Why I feel like anytime I try to play lower tier I got up tier everytime?
I feel like the only way I can avoid getting up tier is playing top tier or it just me?

The topest tier could avoid uptier, that’s always the best solution. =)

heh fair enough

Where is the: Time of day, server(s) you have selected to play and most importantly how do you represent what BRs the other players have in queue at the time of each battle??
Those variables are quite significant as they play a large role in whether you get an uptier or downtier. And what are the “parameters” you use to designate what qualifies as uptier/downtier?
Personally I don’t even consider such things playing planes or tanks. Naval is the only mode where I see any significant difference in gameplay or outcomes due to the tiering I get, and even then . . . what is there to be done about it other than doing the best you can with what you get?

I have been playing for over 11 years, daily, and for the first half of that time at least, no one ever complained about uptiers or downtiers . . . we just played.
I don’t know who or exactly when this became a thing, but frankly, all I see is people using it as an excuse for not doing well scoring/winning or grinding.

I don’t check the leaderboard for BRs at the start of the game, never have. To me, it doesn’t matter, I am still going to play regardless. 99% of the time I realize it is an uptier is when I see “Skill Matters” . . . ☻

As far as I am concerned, when you press the “To Battle” button, you are giving your word to the other players on your team that you will: do the best you can, play to win as best you can & stay and fight until the match is over.

Very simple . . it’s about Code & Honour

Name one war/conflict where the soldiers complained about the map, the other team having a bigger gun or any of the other nonsense WT players like to moan about concerning game play here . . . and then they “returned to hangar” . . .lol

If you see a plane, tank or ship that is bigger, better or faster than yours you still have options. Go full ham on them and attack mercilessly, get friends and gang up on them or . . . . run away . . . there is no shame in a “tactical retreat”

“He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day” - Bugs Bunny

At any rate, your “chart” leaves out many important variables. Yes there are some places where certain BRs have less total numbers than others they face and this can lead to more games at a very slight disadvantage.
Adjust, adapt, overcome . . . . this is the way . .

If you are one of those that returns to hangar because of the BR spread, “I don’t like this map” or any other reason . . . might not be the game for you, surrender.

But if you are a true gamer, don’t sweat the small stuff(it’s all small stuff) make good line ups you can use on ANY map that might pop up and go for it.

Game On!!
otherwise . . .
It's Not Fair

It’s a video game, I’m sorry bro but I’ll call out your LARP there.

Some BRss are worse than others, mostly th technological gap ons.

There’s only so much you could do against, say, a TURM III or worse, one of those up armored centurion/patton with hetz APFSDS, thermal, laser rangefinder and stabilizer, while playing in a IS-4M

Next, in top tier BR, every time I stayed longer than average I get bombed by CAS.

Right, but you should still “do the best” you can and not give up or quit . . all I was saying.
And actually “It’s just a video game” is all the more reason to at least give it your best shot in each match . . I mean, what do you have to lose anyway? Some time?
You’re already piddling that away just playing videos games in the grand scheme of things, yeah?
The whole point was . . it’s a game, do your best and play to have fun.

and nothing even remotely resembling LARP in any of that . . . lol
Not attacking anyone, just being pragmatic and offering a different point of view.
No flame war or argument or debate . . . just a random observation.

agree with u.
i had noticed that we should not pay too much attention to BR when a match truly begins.
As for me,i ll fight seriously in every match,no matter win or lose.

i know this picture is not good enough.
the main server are Europe, these data were collected during almost the whole April.i cant record the time of each game.

The meaning of the records is not to provide a excuse for escaping a true fight,
instead,i try to tell others which BRs r difficult and which r simple.so that they can have a choice.

9.0 is great
9.3 is up-tier hell.

Its mad how much 0.3 effects the experience.

8.0 sabre great.
8.3 mig- not one full downtier in 50 ish games

F5 10.7 good
F5 11.0 (or any jet with few flares ) is when good times go bad.
If i want to fly map.of the earth the full game id play 14.0.

We waste our time. 1.0 up/ down is too much no matter where you put the planes

That’s because everyone in Arcade is either a bot or 10

lol . … hardly

I am 68 years old and I just like flying planes in Arcade more than just about anything else in the game. I fly props, 4.3 - 5.3 generally, 4.7 being my favorite overall line up BR.
Not everyone can handle the fast pace and constant action of AB . .
so, they made slower modes . . . ☻

We all enjoy different things, have different goals, wants & wishes, and that’s ok

Play what you like and enjoy . . . that’s what I do
and I don’t worry about what others are playing . . to each their own.

I agree with you to an extent but I bet those men that you referred to, more than just complained in irl when they were faced with the prospect of being in a place where they were completely outgunned and found themselves in a completely disadvantageous positions. They unfortunately, did not get the chance to respawn. A lot of players would like to create fair and equal conditions to get the most optimal result at a given br. Full-up tiers can and do add a significant advantage to who ever is in the higher br bracket vehicle.

A side note happy v day to everyone.
