[Poll] "Keen Vision" perk is game breaking

This comes up even at low tiers as well though.

I mostly fly 3.0-5.7 aircraft and the broken (in terms of game design) rendering system impacts my enjoyment of flying new nations in markerless sim with low level crews despite me not rushing top tier.

I got 1 5/5/5/5 crew, 1 3/2.5/5/5 crew. Both american.

My USSR/Italian/german/british/french/japanese crews sit around 0/0/1.5-3/1.5-3.

this has to be a bug

It became an issue when anticheat measures were added and vehicles don’t render all the time anymore. Keen Vision is the main thing that tells the game whether you should be able to see a target or not.

I have known about this perk since summer 2024, when I researched the topic for my heli crews.
I did not like the idea, since it is a purely arcade mechanic, but at that time it did not seem to affect the game that much, so I forgot about it.

Since November/December things have changed. Now, on bigger maps, enemy tanks pop up and disappear very frequently and this is very evident when switching between 3rd view and binoculars

So yes, either a very thorough rework or a straight deletion of “Keen vision” is needed, especially in realistic and simulator battles.

If cheating was not an issue than this problem wouldn’t exist period. Gaijin isn’t interested in making an anticheat that works and thousands of cheaters play everyday. This whole problem is caused by gaijins lazy attempts to make cheating more difficult.

Been playing since 2017. The reason this wasn’t always so big a deal is that, for ground vehicles, before late Cold War stuff that’s very fast and capable of easily engaging at very long ranges (laser rangefinder+thermals+high velocity APFSDS/etc) you don’t notice it super often, and people fire their machineguns relatively often.

People have been complaining that the sound system is “buggy” for as long as ground forces have been in the game, but it always seemed like nobody had any idea as to why, and some people noticed it less (because their crew skills were higher!) and noticed it less over time (because their crew skills improved!)

Now that we know WHY, and it appears to be a relatively easy fix compared to, for instance, redoing the entire ingame economy or rewriting the spaghetti code (it’s NOT an engine limitation, it’s an added complexity on top of crew skills that isn’t strictly necessary), it should be changed.

I can sorta forgive the devs for leaving it alone, because it was never nearly so pressing an issue as stuff that made money or broke the game. However, this mechanic limits actual player skill and should be changed.

Why does this affect us flying aircraft if it’s an anti-cheat though?

Sure, tanks have buildings and clutter to act as things to hide behind.

Aircraft have clouds and maybe mountains if flying low. Why make A.I aircraft and allies render many squares away on a 128x128 map where 1 square is 16x16, yet don’t render enemy players if they’re a full grid square away on a cloudless, clear bright day so you fly in circles like an idiot never to find each other contesting an A point on Smolensk.

yes and no.

How they have changed it recently though is probably the worst decision I have seen in game. It honestly feels like there was no thought put into the decision AT ALL.

I always thought i was crazy in the air sim battles and with ships its so visible bad i thought it was my old XBOX one and with the tanks i thought it was me just being completely blind but then I watch the video then tested it out with friends on a costume battle and it’s ridiculous how bad it is
