I’m saying just cause the playercounts drop slightly doesn’t mean the Soviets are in a poor state.
Mig-29SMT is still one of the best sim aircraft in the game.
I dont agree. F-15 has aim9m that are better than R-73 in most engagements. Being smokeless makes them incredibly hard to avoid.
R27ER is indeed a better missile than an Aim7F, but the difference is not enough to justify a higher BR, also considering that in a dogfight both f5 and f16 can outmaneuver a su-27, so I would say that they are fairly matched and should stay at the same BR. Remember also that F-14 and AV8+ sit at that BR and they also have access to fox-3, and they can obviously outrange any R27 missile.
And, other than that, the real problem remains: if you dont give su-27 to red team, how can they fight blue team? With basic Mig29? Of course they are not enough.
They cannot load as much as a phantom, and they dont have the avionics and weaponry that a phantom has. If a bomb-truck phantom is engaged, he can drop all his bombs and still have 4 fox1 and 4 fox2, plus advanced avionics and radar. Su-17 and 22 can do some fighting but they are not comparable to phantoms both in armament and in the avionics department.
You need to dive, identify the target when your close, fire a single missile and keep it in front of your muzzle until it hits. Not even comparable to a single strafe from an a7 that can launch 6 mavericks + one walleye with just one passage. Not even the su25t is as efficient as that, because all its weapons except 2 if I remember correctly need laser guidance, so can only be dropped one at a time.
Yeah, I agree. The ground sim queue is hilarious in certain setup, where soviets have terrible vehicles against superiour NATO vehicles, and even adding chinese vehicles didn’t help a lot. I remember 20 min queue just to get into battle with 6v6.

Maybe you had a bad game, I see from you’re answer that you’re pissed. However, I am not a Red main, in fact I have every top tier in game except for china and israel. I see from your stats that you have almost no experience with red planes.
You’ve never used them in sim, so, simply put, you dont have enough experience to understand what I’m talking about. And no, obviously amraams and phoenix both outrange the r27. This is something you re writing out of spite.
Chill, try to play Red, then come back and you’ll have a wider perspective about the problem.
This topic is not for random complains but to highlight an existing problem. If there are so few red players, there’s a reason. More than one actually, as I stated in the beginning.
In ground, the situation is even worse. Takes 10 minutes to get a match (yes, I know this is not unusual) because there are usually like 2 or 3 “Red” players versus a dozen “Blue” players queuing for a game.
Ah, so the problem is not only related to air sim…it’s even worse that what it seemed.

You need to play using them. Battling against something is not enough to understand what the balance between the two is. To find out you need to use both, maybe that’s why you believe R27 to be so powerful. Having never used them, you dont know how your opponent can counter them. Get the Bison maybe, so you can try them out, or put a talisman on your mig23.

I play both sides and players are generally equally skilled (and unskilled) on both sides, at least if we re talking about players that are actually playing, so not including people that are mindlessly bombing

Mate… in 11.7 brackets, your balanced opposition CANT even face you. The hell you are talking about. You have ML/MLDs against non PD phantoms and if you fly with france on your side, other side has literally nothing, they absolutely neutered blue side for majority of rotation in that BR bracket.
Wtf are you smoking? It rivals fox3s in range and if employed correctly, can go toe to toe with them at range. It absolutely dwarfs Aim-7s. If ER aint better than 7F to justify BR increase, i guess its time to move F4S/J to 11.7 as 7F with their radar aint that much better than R-24R. We should move down F15A, give it 9Ls and let it be 12.7 considering 29 with ER is 12.7.

I always bring R-27ERs even in my Su-27SM. It doesn’t rival the AMRAAM in range, the ER outranges the AMRAAM by a lot.
At that bracket phantoms have PD and aim7F that are superior to 24R.
Also, the only mig23 that can pick up PD signals on rwr is the MLD, so every other mig23 can easily be killed with fox-1.
Third, mig23 cannot switch between regular search and MTI making it harder to use the r24r efficiently. This said, the MLD is still a very good plane but I wouldnt say it’s the best one at that br and for sure it has a lot of very strong opposition in phantoms J/S, kfir, viggen and mirage f1. Saying that “opposition can’t face you” means you havent tried all the possible oppositions.
If we re talking range, aim7F and r27ER have very similar range, what makes the ER stronger is its faster speed. But again it s not THAT much stronger to justify a higher BR, and for sure it cannot go against fox3. A fox 3 allows you to go cold as soon as the misisle go pitbull. It’s not even a game comparing amraam to r27…
What I keep seeing here is people that only main Blue Team, have never played Red or have tried few games, and complain. Please dont write if you’re not experienced with both sides.
