Changelog lied.
Osas are still machinegunning out SAMs like its going out of style.
😭
Another patch buffing the ECMs.

Gaijin why have you chosen to do this?
F-4E stretches from 1967s to 1990s and it had numerous upgrades.
Yet the 23 it faces the MLD 1982. If you were not going to update the F-4E with modern Radar for the time period or upgrade the Aim7E2 largely phased out by then. Why do you think it is acceptable to have an F-4E in 70s configuration (excluding the 9Ls)
To face the best version of the MiG 23MLD?
So I ask again why is it ok to have such an incapable US aircraft. It should have been a 21 BIS against an F-4E
Yeah, I don’t feel like HARM’s are actually that useful. In fact, I don’t even think they’d be particularly overpowered if thrown into the current top tier either.
SAMs like the newest Pantsir make them insufficient.
Curious ppl rag on the A-7 as much when I think the A-6 is the most pointless
Let alone the fact that if they actually model which frequencies the ARMs can attack, few if any can even target the Pantsir
AARGM still can, which is the threat it would actually face
Problem is with the HARM is the system they need to kill they wont be able to and thats the new Pantsir.
IRIS-T/SKYSABRE etc will not be able to reliably intercept the HARM.
BUK gets another buff as they dont need the Radar vehicle to function wasting your HARMS
AARGM is the relevant HARM model that would face the pantsir’s and can kill it.
Can kill it, not if the player is paying attention that is the issue with the new Pantsir the player has to be AFK or you have to be above it diving on it.
I know, i stand on the side of common sense. Which is obviously lacking in volumes.
Ok. So some tips on how to use the US HARM’s. From my experiende with them they are best used at 1.5km alt, 10km away from the target Osa, point down at a -12 degree angle and fire off 2 missiles, then immediatly fly defensively. In my experience this kills the target Osa 100% of the time as while the Osa can intercept the 1st missile, the second is fast enough that by the time the Osa is ready to fire again its already too late for the 2nd one to be shot down
It does if you arent on full afterburner the whole time…🤦
In fairness, if you are going to have any chance of both evading the enemy team and maintaining range on the SAMs… you dont really have much choice. Flying subsonic to conserve fuel on such a dense map… with such little cover… isnt really an option.
If given the choice Id gladly be running a Tonka with Hindenburg tanks so I could stay on AB to deliver the nuke
I get all over the map with the subsonic A-7E and Su-25T to dismantle the enemy GBAD literally every game just fine, fuel hasn’t been an issue, its actually such little of an issue, I’m usually running min fuel in both (14min in the A-7E and 10min in the Su-25T) for the performance gain. 30min of fuel in the F-4E is more than enough when you arent on the burner the whole time.
I find the A-7E im rarely probing that deep and I agree. But in the F-4, you are immediately hunted by the other team if you they spot you flanking or trying to penetrate the SAM lines. More than a few times ive tried to be sneaky and had 2-3 Mig-23MLDs descend upon me
I’ve found a more efficient (Admittedly, slightly less consistent approach).
Same launch conditions as yours, however, just wait for the OSA/Roland to fire at you first. The second you see the missile diamond, fire your anti-rad missile and pull a 180. Do not attempt to break line of sight with the enemy missile, just fly away from it.
The SAM will not switch targets and maintain the lock on you, allowing your missile to kill it without risk of being intercepted. So long as you do this outside of about 6km and at a reasonable speed (Well within even the A-7’s capability), your missile will hit long before his does.
It’s important to wait for the SAM to fire at you, specifically. If you see a SAM engaging something else, don’t fire your missile. Odds are good the SAM will kill whatever it’s engaging, and then immediately switch targets to the missile. By making sure it’s firing at you, you’re ensuring that it will remain distracted for the entire time until your missile hits.
It’s admitedly vulnerable to groups of SAMs, but I’ve found that there is no consistent way to break through without just firing all 4 missiles to overwhelm them.
Also, sometimes the enemy SAM just won’t fire on you. I’ve most often noticed this with the moving SAMs that protect convoys, but it’s far from consistent. In this case, I tend to just fire off the missile at 6km (Assuming I can get a lock) before 180ing and considering it a failed attack. It’s annoying, but what can you do?
I think this is from the ammo mechanic.
