Planes that desperately need to be moved up in BR for the sake of Air Sim Battles!

There has been many Battle Rating changes in the last few years that Air Sim Battles has received close no attention, with the exception of little bit of attention in the top tier.

This happens simply because of the lower popularity, which doesn’t generate enough data to draw Gaijin’s attention. So I’m here in an attempt to do just that.

I want to draw attention to some absurdity on some aircraft that have received significantly br increases across all other game modes, but not in ASB, leaving these forgotten vehicles in a situation where a single pilot can completely win a match by themself, as no one else can do anything against them.

If you folks have any other examples, feel free to share. And if possible, help bring attention to it in the next Planned Battle Rating Changes discussion post.

These are aircraft I gathered to be the worst offenders, with the BR suggestion and reasoning. I have previously made a bigger list with more (less important) changes on r/WarthunderSim if anyone is interested.

Mode: Air Simulator Battles

Vehicle: XP-55
BR Change: 3.0 > 4.0
Reasoning: It differs by 1.3br from ARB (4.3). It has one of the highest K/D in the game. For the same reason it moved up in other game modes, it outruns, outclimb and outturns anything at its BR.

Vehicle: Su-11
BR Change: 7.0 > 7.3
Reasoning: It got moved up in ARB for performing so much better than the Su-9 (7.0). The same thing is happening in ASB.

Vehicle: Spitfire LF Mk IX (US, GB and Israel)
BR Change: 5.0 > 5.7
Reasoning: It is 5.7 in ARB. It has one the best turn rate, thrust to weight ratio and speed among ALL props up to 5km altitude, it even outperform the Mk24 in most aspects. The only downside is instability, which on the hands of any slightly experienced pilot its not a problem.

Vehicle: Harrier GR.3
BR Change: 9.3 > 9.7
Reasoning: All the early Harriers are 9.7 (even the flareless one). There is no reason for this one in particular sit at a lower BR. This one is not necessarily broken at 9.3, but it is a clear sign of oversight from Gaijin’s system.

Vehicle: A7M2
BR Change: 4.7 > 5.3
Reasoning: Its 5.3 in ARB. The only plane that has a chance against it is the Spitfire LF Mk IX, which is also currently undertiered.

Vehicle: Ki-84 Ko (Japan and China)
BR Change: 5.0 > 5.3
Reasoning: Its 5.3 in ARB. The only plane that has a chance against it is the Spitfire LF Mk IX, which is also currently undertiered.

Vehicle: J-7E
BR Change: 11.0 > 11.3
Reasoning: Same reason it moved up in ARB, it is the best performing 11.0 by a huge margin.

Vehicle: Sagittario 2
BR Change: 8.0 > 9.0
Reasoning: Its 9.3 in ARB. This one is probably the most egregious on this list. It is the lowest BR rank VI aircraft in the game (alongside the Yak-30D, which might also need to go up). It has the performance to beat even late korean jets like MiG-17 and F-86F-2, but currently sits at the same BR of post-ww2 jets that can do absolutely nothing against it. Even at 9.0 the Sag2 would perform very well. Have I said it also boasts the highest K/D in the entire game by far?

Vehicle: Ariete
BR Change: 9.0 > 9.3
Reasoning: Its 9.3 in ARB. Its only weakness in ARB is to face supersonics, but in ASB most of those supersonics are at 9.7 anyway. So even if it would go to 9.3 it would probably still overperform, but would at least give some breathing room for those underneath it. Also boasts the 3rd highest K/D in the game.

Vehicle: Ju 288 C
BR Change: 6.0 > 6.7
Reasoning: This is one of the fastest bombers in the game, with arguably the best gunner coverage of all. Prop planes have very little chances of intercepting it. Add that to the current grind meta that the german incendiary bombs allow, you inevitably get this particular vehicle spamed to unbearable levels. It frustrates both allies and enemies. Allies because they are forced to play in a team with only bombers. And enemies because they need to dedicate entirely to defend airfields from swarms of incendiary throwers. Moving it up to 6.7 would at least put it against some early jets capable of at least reaching it and having a chance of shooting it, and make the spammers at least think twice before using it to grind.

Vehicle: Sea Vixen F.AW. Mk.2
BR Change: 8.3 > 9.0
Reasoning: For similar reasons it moved up to 9.0 in ARB, it has the best missiles for that BR, while being fast and agile enough to escape any danger and re-engage, making it very frustrating to fight against. On top of that it has an excellent radar, which makes for a much bigger advantage in ASB than other game modes.

Ju-288 to 7.0 or 6.7 as well.

Reasoning:

Letting people fly the 5.7 german planes on 6.0 and 6.3 days in peace rather than joining a lobby only for it to be 2 ta 152/bf 109 K-4 (you and a rnado) and 6 ju 288s.

That, or they could also just nerf the C250 and C500 damage for good. To this date it does not compute in my head how it is possible a incendiary bomb with 50kg explosive mass, deals almost as much damage as its bigger brother with 157kg, which in turns deal almost as much damage as all other incendiaries in the game containing 300kg+.

You can’t tell me this is for balance, because right now, not only german bombers are the ones with the biggest base damage potential in the game, even their low tier fighters can carry one of those and take bases out.

unironically, Ju288C might be the sole thing that killed my interest in prop planes all those years ago. Nothing, and I mean nothing prepares a newbie for the mental anguish of having to constantly face six enemy fighters on your own while rest of the team goes bombing.

The original post touched most of the basic points.

Although I would also move Sea Vixen up to 9.0 as well; it’s inherently unfun to play against and ruins pretty much any Korean war style matchups. There are entire BR ranges of sim that are basically dead because 1 or 2 planes at the top of the bracket make everything else uncompetitive.

The F14A should be 12.7

Unless other irrccm planes at 13.0 go up, the f15A should stay at 13.0

This thing absolutely destroys everything red has in the 12.0 lobby with its kit. 200 flares + digital rwr + good radar is criminal against the planes it faces

F4 Junk 12.0 < 11.7
Its inferior to the 11.7 phantoms and theres no reason for it being 12.0 for years

F-104J 10.0 > 10.3
Super fast, 6 Aim-9Ps. Radar missiles are useless at that BR so you can just stay fast and low, nothing will touch you.

Kikka 6.7 >7.0
As much as I love it, it is just too fast for 6.7. 850 km/h at sea level is just crazy at this BR.
You can outrun everything and never check 6, while outturning many things. If you learn how to aim with “the stick” and have some trigger discipline, 6.7 is seal clubbing.

TLDR: Flight models should be corrected before changing Battle Ratings.

Let us begin with this preposterous premium British Mustang. Please fellow pilot, wring her out in test flight with combat flaps deployed then tell me if she does or does not object to your joystick locked fully back as you yank & bank? Literally, she’s a goofy clown with melted makeup often exploited by some otherwise skilled aviators. This is a… Splintery situation, if you catch my drift?

Same for XP-50, all P-40 variants and all Ki-61 variants.

Mind you, I’m NOT addressing generally OP aircraft but specifically aircraft that behaves as if Gaijin’s INSTRUCTOR is shielding them from consequences of over-pulling (I.E. stalls) in Simulator mode.

OP? Bf 109 E-1 (1-2.0): She stalls when pulled too hard (thankfully) but she exhibits cartoonish climb! I generally uptier her at 2.0-3.7 and higher except special circumstances in 1-2.0 that involve fighting insanely OP attackers/bombers which fly faster than E-1 and that squirt a tsunami of shells out of their rear “poop chute” (Frank Zappa).

What are we going to do about the Hunter situation?

British Hunter F.1 - (9.0), 17 min of fuel, no secondary armament, weak engines
British Hunter F.6 - (9.7), 13 min of fuel, various armament, can either choose drop tanks OR SRAAMs, better engines
French/Dutch Hunter F.6 (9.0) - 13 min of fuel, Aim9B AND drop tanks (most likely, can be wrong), same better engines as the British one

Ariete and CL13s and G91s and Sigma jets aside, why cannot I also have my 9.7 Hunter at 9.0? F1 should go 8.7, French F6 to 9.3, if not 9.7 due to extended possible range.

F-15a and j going to 12.7 is gonna kill that bracket even more it must not go down

BTW the base su-27s and j-11 are still at 13.3. Is this some sort of joke?
