I just got killed by a plane which already was claimed as destroyed. In RB!!!
Dudes, if you wanna call the mode “realistic” this should NOT be possible!!
Otherwise players will be laughing on you!!
a clip would be helpful
If the guns work and the pilot wasn’t killed then why can’t he shoot his guns?
Clip isn’t needed. It’s perfectly fine. He’s whining over nothing.
Shoot the canopy if you don’t want to be shot back at.
Kill the pilot.
Note:
- Cutting off a wing does NOT kill the pilot.
- Cutting off the tail does NOT kill the pilot.
- Torching a plane does NOT kill the pilot.
- Shooting off control surfaces does NOT kill the pilot.
Would like to see you in such a situation - IN REAL!!! :-D
This major update will see in the introduction of more internal modules for a few aircraft, including components that when destroyed, will disable the ability to use weapons.
So the only reasonable solution is being worked on and rolled out slowly
But if the pilot isnt dead, and that module isnt destroyed (or equivalent wiring and co IRL) . Then the aircraft can still fight.
You can have the same outcome happen in Il2: Great Battles and DCS alike.
Until the pilot dies or bails out, the plane remains under more or less control.
so why does it announce and count a shoot-down / kill??
Then you should not call the mode realistic
So, you’re saying DCS and Il2:Great Battles are not realisitc either?
If it doesn’t say “Pilot: Unconcious” then it’s irrelevant.
However:
- Tail cut off counts as “Destroyed”
Whereas:
- Destruction of all engines OR
- Destruction of all control surfaces OR
- Destruction of more than half of wing OR
- “Destruction” (not separation necessarily) of horizontal stabilizer
is “Severe Damage.”
NO game can be realistic. Just sayin’ I’d like to see that dude or devs in a not worling plane efficiently shooting :-D
Why would a missing wing tip prevent shooting?
Total loss of control with no option for recovery due to damage (known or unknown) like that would of course make the pilot immediately eject IRL… but… doesnt mean they couldnt sit their squeezing the trigger if they decided too.
Plenty of examples of extremely damaged aircraft being kept in the air by their pilots for way longer than should have been possible before they ejected or even managed to land it. (and I can think of a few examples of pilots who didnt eject when their aircraft failed. Like the Red Arrow pilot in 2011)
Aircraft like the A-10s are known for their ability to keep flying and probably fighting after taking damage that would destroy most aircraft. And its not even modern jets. Fairey Swordfish were known to take a hell of a beating.
Yes… the game may announce something as being dead but still being able to shoot guns, but the chances of them hitting is pretty slim
Yes… It probably wouldnt happen IRL, but doesnt necessarily it couldnt happen either.
Also, Air Sim would be the true “realistic” gamemode. Realistic is more like Arcade+
The game as well has limitations. Damage is often magnified due to the simplistic damage models. Rather than having a hole in your tail, you lose your tail for example. And the electronic, wiring, etc arent modeld yet. Like I said, its being worked on and stuff like the Su-25 shouldnt be flying and fighting after taking 3 SAMs to face anymore, which is gunna be lovely.
I’m guessing OP is complaining about flat spinning enemies shooting back, where IRL the pilot would most likely bail out ASAP instead of shooting.
Did any pilot ever shoot while flat spinning IRL?
THIS!!!..is the only sane reaction here so far!!
Tbf flat spins are recoverable. Shooting sounds reckless, yes.
However I feel you’ve more chances of survival trying to kick rudder and shove the nose down to stabilize the aircraft before bailing out (or at least slow it down somewhat).
Jumping out of a plane with a spinning propeller while itself is spinning with a big paddle of a tail just nearby sounds like terrible business and you might not even be able to overcome the sideways G forces.
Mostly not.
In most cases the instructor, even all options are deactivated, kicks in (blinking “instructor”) and you can’t control anything at all.
I can’t remember this from the past.

Watch and learn.
Not my video. I usually start recording after recovering from the spin because I don’t have instant replay stuff, but got my own examples aplenty (including intentional demonstrations for fun).
Also half a wing is not a warthunderism:
Il2 - not only is his wing gone, his stick doesnt work for roll. He lands using proverse roll using yaw-roll coupling with the rudder (also doable in WT!)
Which is the game’s fault and obviously wouldnt apply when talking about IRL
Though did recover a Tornado Gr4 in a flat spin, in ARB, last week.
Lost part of my wing and the F-4 that did it, came back round for another pass, to evade him I threw my aircraft hard over causing the flatspin, thinking I was dead, he peeled off, only for me to recover it and limp back to base, with him desperately trying to catch up (wish I hit my relive key)
