I disagree. You could create a new category, the superheavy, with a very large spawn cost (not as huge as nukes), so you make sure that there will be no spam of them. By the other hand, Maus is very vulnerable to CAS.
Just as Aizuk said, it’s not difficult to balance if you take into consideration CAS and other things. IS-3, T-10, IS-4 and so on are way better than the Maus, yet they aren’t “hard to balance”. They even have a lower BR …
Playing GFAB, the higher up you go the more excessive it gets. My current record stands at 10 ODL on my side in a single match. And most of the time it’s starts as 16 vs 16.
Which brings up the point repairs costs, a lot of these are premiums and a lot have just YOLO’d, if you look at their mission points and Caps, Kills, Assists.
With the new changes the are even better of since now they don’t lose SL if they have a premium account.
Before the change, if they had low mission score with all 0,0,0 the chance was the lost SL even with premium account.
So my fear is that the new changes which help me out enormously when grinding GFAB vehicles above 9.0, have also helped the 1 ODL crowd, since the are assured of a net 0 SL, there is virtually no negative for doing it. and crew locks only effect multiple vehicles not used during the match.
PS. Yes i know this was a GFRB topic, but since the problem persists in both Game modes i thought about putting in my 2c.
One important factor: How many run Premium? Percentage-wise it appears quite low across players.
Slightly unrelated general observation/question:
Would I be right in thinking RP is really down to time spent and SL is more related to actions made? Looking at all my rewards over different modes these two main elements (SL and RP) seem to be tied to particular ways of playing.
Well, CAS is already considered as results within a match will be effected by what players do in said matches, which involves planes.
And I disagree, Maus was too hard to balance when they expanded the game. It hasn’t been put in “removed but periodically available” for any other reason. So yes, it is too hard to balance or else why is it not in everyone’s tech tree for research all the time?
With so many nations and types of vehicle (strengths and weaknesses and how they interact with WT model of play) the game has far too many variables to make balancing work as well as it might have used to.
I have no figures for that, only the assumption that if someone has the money to pay for a 60 EURO premium T6 vehicle they should also have the money to buy 1 year of premium during the discount 7000 ish GE which should be around 50 EURO.
on the acquiring of SL and RP, haven’t really dug into the new after action report but RP is rewarded for longer playtime iirc. and most actions have a SL & RP component, with exception of the Spotting action, repairs should now have a RP component to, if i read the update notes correctly.
The way I have seen it is you are rewarded for staying in battle, in terms of RP, just not so much for SL if you are getting slaughtered. So in theory just sticking it out gives more RP to players than leaving. However if players are not enjoying/feeling engaged with the current battle I can see that staying within a match for earnings becomes a secondary point. However, in theory if people stuck around their RP gains would improve.
Of course watching your own teams do the most boring or useless plays of maps over and over again gets old pretty fast.
I have a ridiculous number of Premiums and spaded vehicles and as a longer term player I have already put as much money in a game as I feel it deserves so do not go for Premium time personally. There are as many types of player as player and easy to not consider all the variations out there.
I agree that there might be a reason, but I don’t believe that it’s balancing.
Again, soviet heavies (and i forgot to mention OBJ 278) are way stronger than the Maus while having the same or lower BR.
The IS-3 sits at 7.0 when the Maus is 7.7 being considerably worse.
I can’t kill a Maus with my 3.0 AEC II, my first kill in my 3.0 AEC II was an IS-3 (that was almost 2000 plays ago however). Overall the Maus is a more awkward nut to crack (not every foe will have means to despatch in any meaningful way, as it should be of course), the impact in game over the years seems testament to that. (I only mention the low rank equation to point out weaknesses that can be taken advantage of, or not)
Also the “average” player appears to moan about the KT, how do you think those players get use out of the Maus? A decent Maus player at the right time is still a royal pain.
Now I would love to see how you kill an IS-3 today with a 3.0 but that’s not really the point.
Yes the Maus has armour but that’s about it and any skilled player will just aim for the barell and then flank it, which is way more complicated with an IS-3. Besides, most tanks at 7.3 can pen the Maus from the front.
How can anyone complain about the KT lol ? The thing has obvious weekspots and make more sound than a steam train.
Distracted, side shot perfect placement from 10 metres.
No spots like it on the Maus (not that I’ve really tried ofc).
In that it is bad when it is not. If they can’t make it in a KT how do you think they would drive the Maus? ( I probably was not clear enough).
KT eats up the Conqueror yet it is 1 BR less (but yes I do understand why it is 6.7 and the other 7.7[8.0], but you put a Church VII versus a Tiger H1 and one bet you get quite a different experience - ofc totally different beasts).
Maus got “removed”, a pretty clear sign they gave up balancing this vehicle, which only ever existed due to the initial top end of ground forces; the game moved on.
If I understand that correctly, You mean that King Tiger (II H probably) is better than conqueror? I would like to know how, as conqueror has stab, better range finder and can pen KT from any distance anywhere.
No, I moved on to say I know why.
However a long reload heavy with APDS can come a cropper against APHE throwers since once that round gets in the Conq is busted.
Not some sterile duel but considering all the situations you come across in game, and AP(DS) at times being quite unforgiving. I enjoyed the Conq but I know how nasty the KT round can be when you muck up/find yourself in a bad situation. OHK potential in the Conq is not quite so good as the KT (at their own BRs, and Conq won’t in theory meet KTs etc as much in the overhaul, and of course half the time I am with Germany anyway… and too often all the level 10s when my team).
You can earn something assuming you don’t get spawn camped to death. If you get 1 kill your premium account no longer covers any expenses so when you spawn 3 times and get a kill with a non premium vehicle you are actually more likely to lose SL
Well, I’m not too surprised folks tend to leave after just 1 vehicle destruction considering battles like this:
With 2 vehicle deaths from just a single shot already, I didn’t even managed to fire a single time, most folks would indeed find this rather demoralizing.
Behold my score. Next to useless to the team effort.
Rewards.
They look like a joke to me. I mean, it’s kind of clever to just hand out a battle trophy for this bad day (5 backups for various vehicles), but… I am not sure if it’s enough.
The final score board.
I somehow failed to get the screenshots amidst battle, probably held another button for too long.
The server is RU one.
is there a reason you are running this lineup? you have reduced research efficiency with a vehicle more than one rank away from the one you are playing so the Pz38T n.A will give you little to no rp. Why are you playing it at 5.3?
I fixed this problem -deleted game. Easy fix.
I tried dying to ammo rack in T-80BVM, ammo was never hit and the enemy just didn’t have the skill so they evaporated.
Lost the 2nd battle, first time someone hit ammo.
This is an odd choice to show as an example, because if my team is losing early on and I notice that someone decided to bring a 2.3 tank to 5.3 (as well as that 1.0 sturmpanzer that someone else brought) I probably wouldn’t respawn.
For spading and… bit of a casual way to go with.
Spading as in - the panzer 38 neuer art was added recently, and I still haven’t spaded it yet (But I’m close).
The next reason is that this tank is less vulnerable (to strafing from planes) than puma after it, even if speed and firepower are lower. It is a vehicle with spotting.
I haven’t made it to the… that West Germany le.k something light tank, and I wouldn’t want to play with it either, as it is a post WW2 vehicle, which goes against my role-play lineout preferences.
I’d pick it, once I get enough vehicles for the west germany lineup.
Heck, East Germany lacks a SPAA vehicle, I’ll probably grab a kugelblitz or coelian after I get there, if not so low rank vehicles like Sdkfz 222…
Lastly, repair costs and stressfullness are lower that way - high BR vehicle makes folks expect much out of You, and basically… kind of forces you to play well, but here, You’re at least trying, without much expectations. Relaxed gaming at high tiers at it’s finest.
As for reduced research efficiency, well…
“[…]but it is a sacrifice I’m willing to make.”
As said Lord Farquaad from Shrek movie.
I still have Nashorn as the main vehicle for ground vehicle research. Second is Wirbelwind. I’m sure these would compensate the potential loss.
Edit:
With 150mm gun it is a quite capable vehicle even at high tiers.
Not really competitive, obviously, but it wouldn’t be wise to underestimate this glass cannon.
The low velocity allows to fire from cover at times.
Aiming of course is cumbersome and requires skill at long ranges, but if the player has made it this far with regular techtree vehicles, I’m sure he/she knows enough how to use it.
And even if it is with premium, well, why not let the fellows at least try it?
