Patria top tier IFV for japan

As my fellow japan mains will know we certainly lack a top tier APC esp one with anti tank missiles my suggestion is this

AMV armoured personnel carrier, manufactured by Japan Steel Works under license from Patria and delivered to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.
Under a contract with the Ministry of Defense announced in May 2024, Japan Steel Works will license-produce 26 vehicles in cooperation with Patria at its manufacturing facility in Muroran, Hokkaido, and deliver them to the JGSDF. And now for its main use in the Japanese tech tree a good IFV style to actually use in top tier with anti tank missiles. Stats and models Patria AMV XP design and features

Patria AMV XP features a modular design with stealth technology and low radar and thermal signatures.

The vehicle is 8.1m long, 2.8m wide and 2.4m high. The combat weight of the vehicle is 32,000kg while its payload capacity is 15,000kg.

The armoured vehicle features a generic vehicle architecture interface and digital vehicle data and control systems. It allows for networked interoperability between vehicles.

The electrical power generation of the vehicle supports the future requirements for C4I, battlefield management and situational awareness systems, and health and usage monitoring systems.

Armament and self-protection of AMV XP

AMV XP can be integrated with 120mm direct-fire cannon systems, medium-calibre weapon systems, Patria Nemo 120mm turreted mortar system, as well as anti-tank or anti-aircraft missile systems to provide superior firepower.

The vehicle can hold higher payloads, including all weapon systems, ammunition, and crew equipment based on mission needs.

The vehicle carries an improvised explosive device (IED) and nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) protective suits to protect soldiers against explosive devices and NBC substances.

It offers up to level K5+ and mine protection of STANAG level 4a/4b or above.

Engine and mobility

AMV XP is powered b ay inline six-cylinder engine, which generates 450kW of power and 2,250nm of torque. The drive system uses automatic transmission with seven forward and two reverse gears.

The driveline of the vehicle includes all-wheel drive systems, run-flat tyres, hydraulically operated disc brakes with an anti-lock braking system, and a central-tyre inflation system for low ground pressure.

The armoured vehicle uses power-assisted steering that is linked mechanically for the first and second axles.

It is fitted with an advanced fully independent hydro-pneumatic suspension system for enhanced off-road performance.

The vehicle’s mobility is further improved with the addition of an integrated terrain control system and optional rear-axle steering. The armoured vehicle can also perform amphibious operations.

The AMV XP offers a road speed of more than 100km/h and can travel at a maximum speed of 10km/h in the water.

It is capable of operating even in the most challenging conditions, including hot deserts and

In December 2020, the Patria AMV XP vehicles were shipped to Japan for testing purposes. The Patria AMV XP 8×8 vehicle was selected in December 2022 to replace the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force’s Type-96 8×8 armoured personnel carriers, as part of the Wheeled Armoured Personnel Carrier programme.

In August 2023, Patria and Japan Steel Works signed a license agreement for the production of AMV XP 8×8 vehicles in Japan, allowing the vehicle to be produced locally in accordance with the WAPC programme.

Patria AMV XP variants

Patria AMV XP’s modular design allows for the installation of various components suitable for different mission needs, without altering the basic vehicle systems.

The basic model serves as a platform for different variants including armoured personnel carrier, IFV, command vehicle, ambulance, reconnaissance vehicle, anti-tank guided missile vehicle, armoured repair and recovery vehicle, and 120mm Patria Nemo mortar system.

The high-roof version of Patria AMV XP offers more internal space in the rear compartment, increasing the vehicle’s height to 34cm, for command, C4I, ambulance or workshop vehicle configurations.

The heavy weapon platform variant is intended for carrying large-calibre weapon systems, including the 120mm AMOS mortar system or 105/120mm mobile cannons.

  1. not a proper way to make suggestion
  2. which variant did japan actually order? just because there exists patria with IFV turret does not mean japan will get it.

and as far as i know, patria is replacement for Type 96, which is APC, not IFV.

Theres no single variant of the patria its modular anything can be interchanged and swapped out so if japan wanted to use half as APCS then the other half as IFVs they could without needing to buy a entire dedicated “version “ patria xp is standard name for every variant of patrias including IFV and direct fire support ones and patria xp is the one japan is building meaning theres nothing stopping them from making IFV patrias

They would still need to buy the IFV module you dunce.

They’re building the patrias themselves they dont need to buy different variants… because they bought the license.

for which variant/modules.

I think this is a little too “what if”, if the JSDF actually uses Patrias as an IFV then sure.

Bro patria AMV XP is including all variants… thats what im trying to explain

Patria has been selected as one of the competitors for the new 8×8 Wheeled Armored Personnel Carriers (WAPCs) project. The project has progressed to the test phase after which the Japanese Ministry of Defense will evaluate the vehicles.

No this vehicle is not an infantry fighting vehicle, it’s an armored personnel carrier, usually equipped with heavy machine guns. And regardless if it’s an infantry fighting vehicle, I’d 100% of the time prefer japanese designs such as the Komatsu 105GSR or the Komatsu B78.

But what variants does Japan use*? Thats like saying “I bought a DVD” which one?

and im trying to explain to you that getting license to produce a specific chassis with specific module does not neccesarily mean having license to produce a specific chassis with different module.

anyway this thread will be locked as it is not proper suggestion anyway and unless you show us what exact IFV configuration japan is getting, then youre spouting off nonsense.

Japan is building them at the
Moment but do have a few. Again its hard to say since production hasn’t started long ago and mainly rn theyre mainly care about replacing old fleets

So what variants? If you cannot know specific the variant then there’s no point in suggesting it.

A Google shows exactly what variant has been selected in the program,

Considering this fact, is hard to say that it will ever come to the game, unless Gaijin will add it regardless and implement at battle rating 2.7 for the joke.

Wt mods 💔 literally the community when japan might get a unique vehicle 🤬😡

Surely the Thai BTR-3E1 is a better candidate than this?

AMV xp includes all variants… a APC can be turned into a IFV

?

“Unique Vehicle” and its a licensed copy of a finnish vehicle :sob:

Ask for the CCV instead, or the Thai BTRs (and other IFVs that Malaysia and Indonesia use)

Yes, as I mentioned before, good options of unique vehicles are the Komatsu prototypes:

So what variant does Japan use?
