It isn’t.
M4 has much better armor, accelerates faster, traverses faster, reloads faster, the shell hits harder, has a .50cal, has a STABILIZER(!!!). All huge advantages and despite me having an ACE CREW (earned for free) on Pz IV H, the M4 is just better.
Firefly has much more penetration and the solid shot doesn’t even spall that badly.

I give you proof that they suck, u say its not the case… so care to explain what makes the Pz IV competitive against the rest of 3.7 or even as the OP recomments 4.7 or 5.0?
Something YOU have accepted as proof to your own preconceived notion. It doesn’t become some hardcore evidence just because you say so. Reality is much more complicated.
Gun? Armor? Mobility? It’s well rounded and doesn’t suffer in any particular area. All of the 3.7 mediums are fine.

I would assume that most people would agree with me that the GLOBAL STATISTICS are actuall hardcore proof.
But believe what u want lol, just dont try to convince others without some good arguments.
Gun:
Gun is fine, gunhandling is crap. Turrets are notorios slow. Especially the J. The HE filler in is is really little. T34-57 has 27g and pz4 has 28g tnt filler. And i played t34-57 enough to know how much this little filler sucks at 4.7.
At 3.7 the filler isnt that big of an issue, but the turret traverse and vertical gun aim is really underwelming. And even at 3.7 the rule is: shot first! Which can be tricky if you need ages to get your gun on target. Its the slowest/worst gun handling of all 3.7 (unless u play some exitics)
Mobility: below average. Its roughly on paar with KV-1 and M4. T34, M24, SAV will just zoom away.
Armor: Not sure what tank has worse armor then the Pz4. any 75mm, 76mm, 57mm or 85mm will just no scope 360 the pz4 while every Flak also shreds you to pieces. AND ure TOP armor is a bloody bad joke. Any plane with a 12.7mm will kill you from above without any struggle. Thats smt u cant do with any other Medium of that BR. Even the M24 is harder to kill from above.
Theres a reason why Germany suffers on that BR… and its not because the Pz4 is so great lol.
