Open cockpit problem

It’s silly that players are still able to fly around in sim battles with open cockpits and able to hear a helicopter or other planes, Sound is important I understand but WE ARE PLAYING IN SIM What is SIM about playing a plane, and flying around at 800KM/PH+ with an open cockpit and being able to hear a Helicopter or plane?

Not just this but even with the cockpit closed we can hear way too much. I hear aircraft zip past me, gunfire from not just nearby (which itself is wrong) but even thousands of feet below me.

Years ago we complained about this and it was fixed. Now Gaijin have allowed it to creep back in. Revert it please.

So you don’t care that tanks have 100% audibility, even though tanks irl are metal boxes?

I agree it is an issue. That being said, I think there can be some server related issues, where it is actually closed but to everyone else it looks open.

I’ve also had the canopy randomly open when taking off from a carrier. Does it too infrequently for a bug report,.but it is very annoying

He never said that but even in ground sim, the view is from the commander’s hatch, giving the illusion of having your commander be looking outside the tank for situational awareness

To me I think it only happens on VTOL aircrafts, guess they are not ready for catapult, but the game puts you in the catapult.

I think your issue is caused by the dumb feature of the canopy opening when you come to a complete stop.

Personally I always close it when that happens, just because I am not in the physical plane and my a/c works just fine in my gaming room. I really think GJ should stealth update the game so that when you open the canopy you get wind noise and other effects (i.e. if you’re going super sonic with an open canopy you should take damage, or something like that).

Also the noise from your own aircraft should drown out all other noise anyway - and I don’t play tanks but if I did I would say the same thing, if your engine is on, that should be all you can hear. At least in simulator/realistic battle.

Yeah, agreed. I wouldn’t say no to those changes. I also don’t think there is any reason why the canopy should open by default when you land or why it’s open when you spawn in. It’s nice to be able to open it if you want, but rarely would you have it open when sat on the runway readying to take off or when sat on the catapult to take off from a carrier.

And yeah, you can typically get it to close. Though I find have to stick my airbrakes on and move my nozzles to the breaking stop for it too close (so perhaps that could change too, that it can always be closed but not always be opened) and sometimes I’m just lazy or there is a threat close by.

Though not a lot you can do in something else. I think I’ve had it in the sea vixen before

yeah that’s the thing, to get it to open in flight you have to glitch it (which is why I would consider it abuse- beyond the sound-whoring aspect).

I believe I’ve opened my canopy by accident once on take off - and once it’s open and your passed whatever speed is set to lock it you can’t close it again (At the time of it happening I didn’t notice because I was in an F-16 which has a pretty clear canopy anyway… when I noticed I RTB).

Yeah, those glitchy exploits need to be patched and yeah, I’d usually rtb. But I didn’t once because I couldn’t be bothered. But it was late and a quiet lobby

Another thing that perhaps need to be looked at is sound mods. I used epic thunder and missile sounds are certainly more distinct than they are normally. I kinda hate “exploiting” it but the RWR and missile chirps just sound so much better

Yes, commander who stuck out to his full height and who cannot be killed even if all crew members are dead. do we believe?

By the way, the question about unrealistic audibility for tanks is still open.
