Everyone is up in arms about canopy exploits, and I’m just here patiently waiting to be able to open my Ki-84 canopy at all… One of these years…
UFO´s can´t open the canopy ;)
If you go more than 200km/h it almost inpossible to have your eyes opend, so I thing the best thing to do would be to start blackout like with the higt g, but without loosing control of the plane.
That would make them close the cokpit, and if it breaks, they have to land and repair. Easy defence.
They use helmets with oxygen mask and visor
But mach 1 and your head is off
And also the plane flew under autopilot in the straght line, the pilot just sit there and hoped to survive. He wasn’t in the control he was there just to see if its possible to survive without the cockpit colosed. This isnt any prove that it should be allowed.

It shouldn’t be restricted. You should be able to open canopy when you want to, but pilot should be handicapped at high speed wind noise, low temperatures and pressure. Slow reactions, vignette, deafness, weaker effect on plane controls etc.
Yea, you survive because you are hold by the seat. I just dont think that in that speed your conces enought to control the plane. It vas my mistake to say mach 1 is inpossible. But it all about the split of the second and no human can think or act that fast.
Controling plane with all the forces on you is inpossible, if not so thay wouldnt build planes with conopies.
What forces? Pilot has big windshiled infront.
And aerodynamics makes air stream go overhead cockpit, even if it has no “roof”.

Speed of car and supersonic jet are little bit differen. Even if you think canopies shoulden be on an aircraft becose there is no wind at mach 1. They are still there becose kf the airpresure and tempriture in hight alts. The canopy is there for the reason.
Amd no windshiled doesnt mean for every plane, like F 16.
Yes, that’s what I said earlier. Pilot should be affected by low temperatures and rapid changes in atmospheric pressure.
That’s why cockpits are made sealed and pressurized on high-altitude aircraft (even on piston GA).
But you should be able to jettisson canopy when you want to. At your own risk.
In the end, it should be limited by alt, and speed.
And it would be nice mechanic to have in warthunder.
It has big enough “shield” infront.
I’m sure the engineers built the plane taking into account the possibility of losing the canopy during the flight.
He had to lose speed and he flew as slow as he needed to keep cotrol of the plane. I realy dont beleve that there is zero wind with oped canapies.
The aerodinamics changes with the speed, and if the slowes speed f16 can go is about 230km he felt the same as in car, witch again is the speed where you can win againt the force of the wind.

First two are also relevant to many planes even with their canopy on, if we include props. The rest are just symptoms.
