Its simple to fix. Give anyone with a single tank in their lineup (excludimg planes) a backup for the battle. Next, if they spawn a second time give them a small sl and rp bonus. This will encourage players to spawn a 2nd time
I already proposed this solution in other topic, but ill do it again:
if they fixed to the player that he can bring 3 heavy/medium/ligh/tank destroyer tanks, 2 SPAA, 2 CAS/CAP/Heli (number can change, its only a propose) and if you bring less than that you can spawn the amount of it (e.g. if i bring only 1 heavy tank, i could spawn it 3 times) i think you would see less ODLs. Complete that with better maps and you will not see ODLs more, probably.
Its a combinations of factors that ODLs exists, my propose is to change the foundations of the crews slots and spawn to mitigate theses factors. for example, in my propose, at least the noob premium could spawn 3 times per match and not only 2 times on 20 games (with the 20 free backups).
For this ever happen gaijin will have to agree and stop to earn money with crew slots and backups, which i think is a little impossible, but i think this will probably solve the problem.
So I’ve agitated quite a bit against the ODL trend, but I’m afraid I’ve started to join them. Top tier is busted beyond belief (and by top tier I mean 9.7+) and as many people have stated already, there’s just no fun to be had when half your team gets on the lemmingtrain to yoloville, dies in the first few minutes, and you just know that no matter what you do, you’ll lose and most likely will end up spawn camped within the minute.
So I leave. Sometimes I’ll spawn a 2nd vehicle if it looks like there’s a chance, and very rarely do I go through a full lineup if it’s actually one of those matches where it’s going to be a close call as to who wins it. But that’s incredibly and insanely rare.
One solution that I thought of (and I can’t believe [gack] I’m even suggesting [blergh] this) but maybe take a page out of World of Tank’s book (I threw up in my mouth a little here…) and change the whole lineup thing to being allowed to select 1 tank and 1 plane and 1 heli, removing the spawn cost on all of them, and when you die, you die, that’s it, game over, back to garage. That’s pretty much what happens anyway with the yoloville contingent, they take a tank, die, back to garage. Some people will take a tank, snaffle a kill, cap and assist, J out and go fly a cap plane, then go back to garage when they get clapped.
Personally after a good 4 month break and coming back it’s just… not fun anymore. Big Tunisia got screwed so hard it’s still walking funny (and I quit the match if I get that map), and every other last map Gaijin’s been fondling over the past few months has also gotten worse. It also doesn’t come as a surprise that they aren’t mentioning any of that in any sort of roadmap; they’ve done that before, because they still operate on the assumption that if they don’t mention it, we won’t notice it. Or they know it’s such an unpopular thing the easiest way to get it “their way” is to just do it. Like the drones; everyone said the original implementation was ass, and Gaijin said onto us that nay, it is not ass, it is working as intended™.
Except they changed the intent right quick afterwards.
Anyway. So yeah. ODL. I’ve gone to the dark side. It’s better for my mental health that way. And I can see why people who otherwise have full lineups do it. I still blame Gaijin for making it an issue by selling 10.3 premiums to new players, but somewhere, I can’t blame them either.
Welcome to the side of people for whom health and life are more valuable than any games.
I will still 1DL in my low tier premiums (not counting backups). Why? From my point of view I would rather join another match and keep my 300% SL coefficient than use another tank with a measly 80%. Unless there’s concrete maths that shows otherwise, then I could be convinced.
Always remember - You are customer not an employee. You should enjoy product, not make sure other enjoys it as it is not yours job but Gaijins. The only thing you should do in this game is follow rules and there is no rule against one tank lineup. So if ODL maximise your fun in game then good for you that you found the way. I used to play full lineups as well and switched to ODL because it simply eliminated or highly reduced frustration parts of game. I also learnt that you cannot blame other players how they play as long as they play by rules Gaijin put here as like I said before it is not player’s job to make other players happy, that one is only on Gaijin to make environment where everyone is happy.
I can understand your frustration but keep in mind that the battle is not over yet that every verhicle/air/heli can make difference between win or lost. My last game in Sands of Sinay was the same as always in top tier battles with ODL and team that get destroyed in in few minutes and somehow we manage to pull off a win against all expectation with 4 peope include me keep fighting in every verhicle that you can spawn and destroy the op team. Having someone in team who is skilled in air who have can make difference in GRB against op who lack spaa.
Call me dumb if you want, but I still spawn constantly until the end of the match most of the time (playing BR 6.7-7.0 a lot lately). Never less than twice.
I’ve had many crazy matches where we pulled victory from the jaws of defeat in where things looked bad after my first death and that is what keeps me coming back. That and the fact that I’m grinding camouflages now instead of new vehicles so every kill I can cheese the better for me.
Even when we lose I like being alive at the end of the match or I feel like I’m missing out on what’s happening lol.
Sometimes you just know how a match is going to go and there’s no reason wasting time and repair SL on more spawns.
Maybe 2 times out of 10 I’m wrong about a match; but 8 out of 10 I’m right and 1 death leaving was the right choice.
I don’t care about crew locks because I play all nations. I don’t “main.”
Well said.
My free time besides my family, is extremly valuable to me. Why would I even waste a minute, if some of the oposing team is already sniping the spawn area? I leave an play the next match, which might be more fun. But getting killed in the spawn area, even if this is after 1 spawn is no fun.
To be fair, if my team goes spawn killing and they don‘t back up upon my request I leave too. The most annoying thing in this game is spawn camping.
The other reason to leave is because you cannot spawn again until the opponent gets killed by your team. So you keep waiting in spectator mode until hopefully you get a few spawn points from assist kills. Boring. And the idea of spending a single GE for spawning again, never GJ! Nice idea what was implemented but no I am not buying into it.
And AirRB is full of ODL, by design 😉 One of the most annoying gaming modes.
the reasons i one spawn leave :
- spading a vehicle
- some map design making some vehicles in my line up irrelevent
- sometimes i just want to have fun with one particular vehicle, but can’t respawn it because it is limited to 1 spawn by design.
I do it more often when i’m grinding, and especially when i’m confronted to a 700x700m map while grinding a high tier light tank where my mobility does not matter at all
I personally believe that most ODL is caused by lack of options. Gaijin made system where they put all kinds of players in basically one game mode where only choice is difficulty of said game mode (AB, RB and SB). They made rules so vague so everyone can find its place in game. And that is main problem. Putting players with different preferences into same queue will result in frustration because one group can affect another and there is nothing the other group can do.
For example maps. This one is heavily mentioned as simply not everyone enjoy every map. Having just one map ban will not help as there are always more than one for specific category. And with each update this feature is more and more useless as they are adding more maps but not more map bans. And I understand those frustrated players on maps they do not like. I personally hate big maps and winter maps. Big maps are just too boring for me as there is not enough action. I often just yolo rush or play for 9 minutes(to evade crew lock) and then peace out because it is just not worth to spend more time there. Sometimes I just leave at start and do not bother spawning at all. Winter maps are just too bright and making it really annoying to play. Also it is really different when you have Domination variant or Battle mode or Conquest. Domination is fun and forces you to move around map. Battle mode is as boring as team death match can be and Conquest is just bad joke.
Lack of game modes is another. Having just limited spawns game mode like we have now is also really stupid. There should at least be No Respawn (like Air RB) or Infinite Respawn mode so high tier premium vehicles have alternative playground where they would not be as limited as in current Limited Spawns mode. Tank Only vs Combined is another topic. I do not bother to bring more than one tank when I know late game will be unplayable thanks to CAS for me so why bother.
People want to have fun and if you limit their fun by being dependent on slot machine called match making it is obvious that people will not feel motivated to stay in battle that is not worth their time.
There are still aspects of game that cause ODL and are not lack of player’s choice like predetermined spawn points to allow easy spawnkilling or module grind where you do not get RP for new vehicle if you do not play with it. But this is another topic.
The main issue here is probably the combination of ODL and current limited spawns game mode. Current limited spawns game mode is great concept but its execution is poor. I really like the idea of limited resources per battle and that decision what you use matters, but this concept is flawed by vague rules, lack of team coordination and casual players that are here to shoot stuff and not much think about it. This mode is more niche than something with infinite spawns like some form of Conquest from Battlefield but for vehicles that would appeal more to casual player. This is why I do not care about results because they do not matter as you are put into match with players where you have no idea why they play this game and what is their goal. And that is also why in games like battlefield game play itself is so much better experience, because players chose that server to play on it so they are on same wave like you.
This is also why some of you will always suffer from ODL. Gaijin will probably not change anything as long as it makes them money. They probably cannot change rules because it could drive casual players away and they do not want to add new modes because they do not know how would this play out.
Tbh current limited spawn mode would be better for competitive mode with more restrictive rules and voice communication or at least without chat spam restrictions.
There’s also another thing.
The battlepass daily tasks and challenges.
Sometimes, despite repeatedly rerolling, you end up stuck on utterly obnoxious tasks that force you to use a vehicle you only have one of (say, get kills as SPAA). So your best bet to getting the task done in a reasonable amount of time is to spawn your SPAA, shoot planes if you see one (oddly, there’s barely any CAS when you do this) and leave if you die.
And then the challenge themselves that demand a specific vehicle type. I ended up kind of ODLing/2DLing (jagpzIV and hetzer lineup) myself grinding out “Aggressive Sniper” since I don’t enjoy casemates but they were the only TDs I could unlock in a reasonable timeframe and SL cost.
Completely forgot about that, maybe because I no longer do any battlepass in any game is this is crappiest game mechanic that was ever invented. Only battlepass, that I consider good, is in Deep Rock Galactic as it does not require any stupid tasks and you have infinite time to complete it now.
But yeah, battlepass tasks are also reason for some to ODL and with their probably limited time, they have right to do so.
Hell no, thank god we don’t have this or you’d never stop fighting 2a7’s
If I am doing a challenge then that challenge is the focus. If I’m done I’m done and gone.
Often time to complete is limited so if I spent my only plane on getting the one SPAA I needed then I’m out and onto the next one.
If Gaijin promotes this type of play then why should I worry?
I really hate it, it really does promote anti-team gameplay a lot of the time.
I’m glad I’ll soon get the aigle for sl farming and can forget about grinding this BP and just do what I enjoy.
It certainly does and if Gaijin is thinking only of Gaijin then Eddie is thinking only of Eddie.
Well…unless I see a fellow forum member upside or in need of repair.
