I’m aware that the Eurofighter is very similar to the Rafale, but operationally it’s not a multi-role. It’s an interceptor. It’s shortcomings need to be picked up by the F-35.
Russia as well, the R-77 is equal to the AIM-120A while they’re completely out of luck until Su-57 with the R-77M. In terms of capabilities the Rafale and Eurofighter are very similar to the Su-57 as well. Otherwise it’s just a bunch of one off prototypes that aren’t very different from each other.
It also depends on how Escargot models PESA versus AESA radar because Russia used PESA for the longest time and are just starting to switch over.
That’s more about their overall size of nation. You can’t spend money where there isn’t enough. If you’d scale France up in their budget to RU/US then it’d look a lot different. Some french prototypes (specifically the Mirage G) had it’s testing documents bought by the US to create a competitor of the F-14 called the V-507 Vagabond
maybe, but again it isnt reality fact is air devolpment is the biggest in US/ RU /China, when a new player asks what the best air trees are overall and future, nobody will name france, always US or russia first
Keep in mind Rafale was one of the only few aircraft that managed to take down an F-22 in dog fight training
Just because France didn’t have the spendings to get through with all their vehicles they are still very good and potent military developers and export
How much do you know about Frances history in developing aircraft? As soon as Gaijin starts adding failed prototypes to other nations (Yak 141 already being a failed aircraft that was added in a “how it would’ve entered service” variant) France would get a lot of more modern aircraft as well. The game itself doesn’t represent military capabilily too well with how inaccurate most modern vehicles are as they’re made from guessing in many points.
Jesus the french are coping hard today. Let me say it again this doesnt make france a major air developer in this age, they dont have multiple aircraft projects in the likes of US/RU/China. Nobody recommends france as an air tree. And the french aircraft arent “iconic” in the way US or Russian aircraft are either.
It doesnt matter either how much bigger the countries are, as a result they have way bigger funds and production yes and that makes them the mayor players not france
As to what? Rafale is one of the most sucessful aircraft of the modern days. Just because the US has multiple aircraft that can do one specific job better than the other doesn’t mean the aircraft is better than another nation ones. Dassault is a very big one with M2K-5 and Rafale being exported to many nations and in larger numbers than most US ones as they’re kept secret. Just because people don’t know about the nation as much doesn’t mean it’s smaller or less capable than others. The US is most know because well english is a widely spoken language and so most sources and articles come from there
France as an air icon is 2nd to the U.S and Russia. The Rafale is one of the most exported vehicles that competes with the F-35. Just as the Mirage 2000 competed with the F-16.
And before you say anything I played Russia toptier before going over to France, stopped for a while to get up in rank with the US and then went back for M2k-5 and Leclerc AZUR
@Unl3ashed20@MS_Phantasm this has nothing to do with gameplay or hollywood, the 3 nations are just wayyy bigger and have bigger funds and bigger developments, this allows them to develop multiple aircraft and often specialised aircraft at their job then multirole ones. The bigger funds just make them the biggest developers.
Gameplay wise they will just stay more intresting then france as well, because they have more different possible additions that play differently and give a taste for everything.
I am not necesarily speaking of quality, but are you guys saying that france develops as much as US/RUS (ignoring recent embargos) and China?
Depend the pov. Personally i just think this gonna make these country infernal in term of grind, time and money, when with one variations of one plane you can do anything, this could bring some people too, who know.
I never said we produce as much as the others.
But quantity and quality are 2 different things (I’m not saying they don’t make quality, before you play with words…), and you know what’s also attractive to some players?

And War Thunder is losing it more and more with all this US and Russian copying and pasting, and it’s only going to get worse in the future… EXCEPT for the nations that can survive without it, and only the nations that have something to offer of their own and that can compete with the others, for me that still means some know-how in aircraft. And that’s where i think saying France is not interesting is false.
Between all the country using US and RU tech, outside China too, almost everybody else gonna use techs from them.
Except some rare and original gems, like the EF (wich gonna be somewhat (slight differences) also a copy past for 3 countries), and the Rafale (unique to France, if Gaijin don’t do some heretic move like Indian Rafale to UK).
