Honestly i think a better example is how afaik they have struggled to replace their IR seeker source due to events in 2014.
And its not like those seekers were all that special either given at that point were still not making FPA-seekers. If they were id expect them to advertise it all over their RVV-MD
Exactly, I agree, and yours is the better example as it also highlights that even the simplest components may not be hard to reproduce at all. It is bringing reproduction in large scale the issue.

And its for these reasons im not exactly hopeful about the future of top tier soviet IR missiles as in that department it doesnβt seem like they have much to offer beyond R73M. Which is a missile they could probably add to the game just fine (R74 and R74M dont seem to fundamentally upgrade much)
Now im also completely on-board with making up missiles stats for the sake of making top tier more fair, but it should be done so very openly. Like i can pretend that the R74M2 is a block 1 Aim-9x equivalent. But from what little i can tell about the R74 and R74M, and their seeker supplier issues, i sorta doubt it is.
