And the F18 is still in use to this day, this shows how outdated it is

Thats not really an argument there plenty of air forces still using outdated stuff

No, it really doesn’t.
F-18 was chosen because it’s cheaper to build new parts for & maintain.
That’s it.
F-4F ICE is functionally identical to F-18 in weapons capability, and is a faster platform.

The ONLY reason F-18C takes over F-4F ICE is cost, that’s it.

So we get it, you’ll hate every great jet unless it’s a Typhoon, and you’ll probably hate that too.

Mate its a F4 with AIM120s vs f18 with the same missiles which was a plane that replaced the f14 which replaced the f4 there is no hate

You missed the fact that Germany would be getting their Su-27 a patch after USSR

Unlucky Bird

They never had su27 i think

I know but I was just referring to Germany getting their jets a patch later than everyone else.

Also cool fictional Luftwaffe Su-27 pics:

Just had a random thought wouldn’t it be funny if the Yes minister lot became the three presenters of Top gear.

F-18 did not replace F-4 because of airframe or speed.
F-18 only replaced F-4 because it’s cheaper while providing the same weapon system capability, that’s it.
F-4 is a superior airframe, which is why F-18E was made, that actually increases the F-18’s capabilities in airframe performance.

sorry but i don’t believe that its airframe is better

I do wonder with the difference is between the British, Canadian and Australian 2-pounder universal carriers as everything lists them as different vehicles.

Different scent trees and Australian ones have kangaroo bars, while the canadian ones have ram bars

j/k, dunno if there actually is a notable difference

It seems the 2-pdrs were mounted differently by each nation and the aussies built one variant with a mortar, while britain and canada built one with a flame thrower
