Nuclear Thunder!

Again if you add the f111 then there is no reason for the f4e to keep the 30kt nuke.

I get tons of kills against low flying mig-23s with ~25km launches from the F-4S

Doesn’t look like today’s update has been posted in replies here yet: Update 2.55.1.36

Thank you snail! 🐌 What a glorious day, hopefully the SPAA’s are less oppressive now 🙏

I tried multiple times to bomb the main bases in the B-52H/Tu-95M, but every time I spawn, I die within seconds from the enemy SAMs.

I enable the IRCM, I chaff, I also try to get perpendicular to enemy SAMs but I can never reach a base before getting swatted out of the sky by buks or hawks within seconds of spawning.

I see people just calmly flying to the bases and nuking them without being attacked. What am I missing?

Yes but roland dont even use there radar half the time

I think a very important first step is taking out advanced radar sites on the map! Someone mentioned that the range of the Patriot and S300 can be reduced by taking them out. I have not tried yet but will!

All long range SAM’s should be taken out before trying to end the game, Farming SP to spawn the big nuke right away will only end with getting shoot down

Check out these maps if you have not seen them yet, will help to make your way to those radar sites: Nuclear Thunder! - #5911 by SilentTracker

US Advanced Radar sites = “AN/TPS-59”
RU Advanced Radar sites = “NEBO”

Check out the maps above. Also, do you have “periodic countermeasures” keybinds setup? Check my previous post for screenshots and suggestions:

Still follow the advice from D4nger_CLO5E and TheKnightOfZero above: Nuclear Thunder! - #6231 by D4nger_CLO5E Nuclear Thunder! - #6232 by TheKnightOfZero

I have been able to drop the big nuke with the B-52 without the big SPAA’s or Radars being taken out, buuuuut the big SPAA’s were lobbing missiles at me the entire flight. I am pretty sure I just got lucky.

I did have Periodic Countermeasures on, set to Chaff only (to save flares for interceptors, which I did need), then I also spammed 3 or 4 chaff every time I got a launch alert from my RWR. You have ~1,000 chaff in both the B-52 and Tu-95, go ahead and spam them some the moment you see a launch alert. The launch alert usually faded after 3 or 4 spammed chaff. You should not run out before you get to their main airfield.

Outstanding o7…people saying this new game mode is bunk should go be kill joys some where else :/ Looks like it will be adjusted and can’t wait to run my Gripen E and others :) also ARM for top tier air will be very nice in this mode :D

Honestly it’s not so bad. Once you are at about 9km high just altering your trajectory by 10-15 degrees once you see smoke in the air is usually enough to evade the missiles. If you properly notch you won’t ever be hit. I figured this out when I flew my yak141 from our main airfield defending against multiple b52s to go cover our tu95, who successfully bombed the enemy airfield post fighter to fighter sortie

Its still impossible beyond belief to notch OSA or Roland, pathetic

Ngl, it was quite a missing opportunity to not add MiG-25BM with it anti-rad missiles

(just a vid of MiG-25BM doing SEAD in WARNO and, somehow, succeeding)

The soviet free lineup is so outrageously bad compared to the US free lineup its making me want to skip a day of the event and bother with it tomorrow, if this is what the Soviets had to offer it’s no wonder they lost the cold war

Eeeh… I dont know. If I need to choose between MiG-23MLD with it somewhat useable radar vs F-4E “I cant see anything, so use AIM-9Ls… which are not present on most premade louadouts”… I would go for MiG-23.

SEAD wise Id go with Soviets too. Su-25T is bad (same as A-10), but Su-24M at least is supersonic. It can pull out out of force reconning enemy AA. TRAM and Corsair however… yeeeeah

I use the AIM-7s all the time and constantly get locks tbh

That is if your opponent is not smart enough or is overconfident to NOT hug the ground, then sure, you will get locks and kills

They don’t need to it’s saclos like tow missiles and the AI is an aim bot

Even if they’re flying low I manage to get them to go up by shooting and waiting until they go high enough for a lock while trying to dodge, I’d genuinely rather play the Phantom with 4 radar missiles than the Mig-23 in any configuration

Can someone explain how the Select Radar/IRST target to lock and Lock Radar/IRST on target work? I’ve watched some videos, but I’m completely new to jets, so it’s a bit overwhelming with all the new info.
I think I understand the beyond/within visual combat range, I’m using that mostly, the other two seem to do nothing when I press them :D
I’m playing the mig23 atm with r24rs. Is the radar just that finnicky or is it skill issue? :D Cause sometimes the radar will lock onto someone 9km away through a couple of other jets among all the ground clutter and sometimes it doesn’t want to lock on someone 5km away with just sky behind them

This lets you cycle through/switch between (automatically, if enabled, manually if not (which also uses a separate set of binds to help you do this)) targets in your radar or IRST view.

This lets you make your radar lock on to the selected target that you cycled/switch onto in the previous step^, which allows you to then fire your radar guided missiles.

Radar. But that’s to be expected of “early” radars. It is basically a prayer every time you turn it on.

(Also, I can’t say if its skill issue since I haven’t played that or similar jets in a while and well you’re new so that wouldn’t be nice)
