- Talisman pod on an Indian MiG-29K.
very cool vehicle but it would go to britain so -1
Dont like soviet vehicles being in the british tree
very cool vehicle and it would go to britain so +1
I like soviet vehicles being in the british tree.
Take two…
Either way, a bit unique to see a Belarusian pod on the Indian MiG-29K. We’ll have to see what else gets thrown on these Jack of All Trade-Indian aircraft.
Im in a server with FlyingOstridge i know he said that to troll me lmao.
thems fighting words mate
With recent US interest in Indian arms market, I’d expect some SNIPER pods or AMRAAMs or some kind of AGM/GBU given some time
MDBA already has a grips on the IAF for missiles with ASRAAM and Meteor, the aim 120 would be a downgrade now however American PGMs would be an interesting armament for them
Amraams are much cheaper than meteors. I think they’d be well suited for some roles in the Iaf just like how meteors are well suited for others.
IAF already has JDAMs too so they already do have US PGM, but maybe they will get stuff like JASSM, JSOW, or JAGM with their JSF
ASRAAM has a similar effective range to AMRAAM while being a fox 2, so no painting a target with a big old radar so its still pointless for them.
Id also love to see some R9X missiles around more aircraft and hopefully added into game, wouldnt be great in WT but still would offer a different kind of weapon to use, a sword missile is such a brutal but brilliant concept, accurate to the foot with minimal collateral damage would be a cool way to save a squadmate without blowing them up too
outright lie/misinformation
R9X would be completely useless, they dont have any explosive so how do you expect them to go through tanks? swords will just break against the steel used on tanks
MDBA themselves claim a 25km+ range which for a non radar “short range” missile is impressive to say the least and thats where AMRAAMs starting to get to its wits end. any further and they have meteor, which outranges everyone elses missiles for now.
Call it a marketing lie if you wish but if its being adopted by people other than the producer nations when they could just buy cheaper russian or american missiles it clearly has merit
the IAF has their own domestic AMRAAM equivalent, ASTRA
- ASRAAM is cheaper than AMRAAM, they serve different purpose
- AIM-120D range is claimed 160-180km
- Meteor is outranged by R-37M, PL-17, possibly PL-15, PL-21, AIM-174, possibly AIM-260
If they go for the F-35 they’ll have to use AMRAAM while the ASTRA gets integrated
Which would be an upgrade over Astra mk2 anyways
pretty sure throwing an explosive telephone pole at a plane is the same purpose either way
Highly doubt this will ever hit an aircraft with an RWR, they are going to notch out a missile thrown that far pretty easy
you trust the russians or Chinese to make a reliable missile? also the AIM-260 isn’t in full service if at all yet, it seems to have been in a bit of a development hell and the late 120D variants allegedly reach the same ranges according to raytheon at least so it might not ever see real widespread adoption
ASRAAM and meteor both fit on F35 so not neccessary, theres also nothing stopping them adapting pylons if it doesnt just fit anyway
They don’t want to depend of USA so it will never happen, that is why Rafale was a good deal.
they are just dependand on the british, french and russians instead, which is not really any different tbh
