JF-17 is good, but it never got the interest of the PLAAF.
Mostly because Chengdu aviation corp has a massive delta-canard fetish and they spent decades researching this configuration.
And Shenyang has an affinity towards the Flanker platform. Even the J-35A has some aspects that look similar to a Flanker, especially from the rear.
right now in this update gaijin should add the Python-4, PL-8B and R-73M as the later batch of IR missiles from the 4 generation and next year between october/november and december its the most safe time to try to go ahead with the next generation.

And even then, the PAF doesn’t place the program above the J-10CE that they have bought, more as something to supplement the J-10CE.
