Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

Don’t expect much from the VT-4, other than the fact it is slightly more mobile it’s actually in many ways just as bad, or in some other ways even worse compared to the Challengers.

On paper doesn’t look horrible, in practice it is.

id agree with you if it wasnt for BAE systems Inc. being composed of a bunch of US companies as well as BAE systems, i mean it directly states it mitigates the foreign ownership which means a lot of stuff kept and run in US, presumably by US employees

Nigeria was never a unique colony and I would disagree with any moves that puts Nigerian vehicles that are not British in the British tree naturally speaking. Practically speaking gaijin is yet to juice out whatever copypaste India had to offer. Like, they are building pantsir-SE currently and the machines would be made in India, hmmmmmmmm

It’s BAE systems US you have to look at the BAE systems PLC.
https://www.baesystems.com/en-us/our-company

You were the one that brought it up dude. Not sure what gave you the idea that it’s something I want?

Yeah, BAE Systems Inc is a subsidiary of BAE Systems plc xD

BAE Systems Inc. is the official name for BAE Systems US

Like I said, it’s a subsidiary

Look at the link I updated my comment with. I understand the BAE inc website about us seems a little misleading.

so is GD-UK and GDLS-C, i think to make defense industry subtrees that would work, foreign subsidiarys that are comprised of many domesic companies, especially if there is a special agreement for the express purpose of mitigating foreign ownership, should not be considered part of the defence industry subtree for the nation of the parent company to preserve some national uniqueness

i mean i dont think either of us want Ajax or LAV 6 in USA

im aware its a subsidiary, but from the other things i read it seems to operate with a greater degree of autonomy from BAE systems plc than most other defence subsidiaries

Or maybe manufacturer subtrees just don’t really work very well. I mean all you actually want out of it is a hundred and three versions of the F-15

and that is so it can work on US military projects, it needs to be US based for secrecy reasons, that’s how BAE got to work on projects like the F-35, but it is still a BAE subsidiary and unless you start making caveats to the manufacturer tree idea would still be British

only 3 F-15’s that would need a manufacturer subtree to come to US

could you name them and the specific reason you think you need them?

F-15K (Korean F-15E) it has SLAM-ER, IRST, Harpoons, AN/APG-63v1
F-15SR (F-15SA upgrades for an F-15S which is a saudi F-15E, it doesnt have the extra wing hardpoints or FBW) it is an in-between for F-15SA and F-15SG
F-15QA (couldnt really find anything about a US test one like for the F-15SA) final step between F-15SA and F-15EX, could work as a premium, and i think itll come to US no matter what since it just doesnt make any sense anywhere else

I mean I wouldnt be a big fan of Nigeria for UK as well, just saying it is a possibility.

Theres no need for IRIS-T and the SLAM-ER may not ever come, and if it does you will get it on the F/A-18

sounds like something that can be mostly achieved with just a later version of the F-15E

that’s just a premium; you don’t need a subtree for a premium

IRST not IRIS-T, AN/AAS-42 specifically, which is the one from F-14D

F-15SR has an older radar then the upgraded F-15E and also Saudi F-15 carry harpoons too. it also has a different RWR and ECM suite, as well as a MAWS where the F-15E upgrades dont for some reason. has the IRST too
https://www.dsca.mil/press-media/major-arms-sales/saudi-arabia-f-15sa-aircraft

some armaments that would be seen on F-15SA and SR

To be fair, there is no real need for IRST either, it can be nice to have, but equally it’s not all that big an upgrade, though yeah, I did misread you. And I believe the US has attachable IRST pods for F-15s anyways

and there would be nothing wrong with just jumping straight to the AN/APG-82, the antenna is the same as the 63(v)3, it’s just got a better processor, the difference in RWR is negligible for in game purposes, and ECM isn’t really implemented, MAWS would be nice, but not enough to justify an entire new kind of subtree.

It is a sidegrade to later F-15Es really, and it doesn’t fill a glaring hole in the tree, because there isn’t one to fill.

talks about difference between 63v3 and 82v1. and the cheif test pilot said it was by far the most powerful radar, so i think the upgrades between 63v3 and 82v1 will make a noticable difference

the US Legion IRST pods are much more advanced (and very new), and iirc, only on the F-15C and F-15EX. and i mean, even for the K and SR i still think a subtree isnt fully required due to aircraft lineage but would gaurantee its place in the US tree
