They seem to be talking about the difference between the 82 and mechanical radars, the 63(v)3 is AESA as well.
I’m sure the 82 is better, but will it be such a huge advantage in game that we need a middle step? especially as the F-15E doesn’t have the flight performance of other 4.5 gen aircraft?
No, the part I was talking about pretty clearly said they were talking about 63v3 compared to 82v1
I think it’ll be better enough to have a middle step, or at least have the SR as an a2a side grade since it has a MAWS while upgraded E does not. In ground it will be a justified middle step though since 82 is much better optimized for a2g use, and an upgraded E would have acess to very potent weaponry
Says it’s better than the 63v3, also the processor on the 63v3 is pretty old (as stated in the article) so it makes sense they were able to get that much more out of it
It isn’t quite an F-15E though, it has the MAWS, also it’s still slightly worse than an upgraded F-15E in air to air since the F-15E will have AIM-120D-3 and SR would have C-8
Carries harpoons operationally as well, and ofc the IRST which sets it apart too
Just used whatever I saw a little bit earlier in the thread as an example. However my argument is still the same, 635 is still so close in penetration to M829A2 meaning that they would be equivalents in game.
It still isn’t needed as none of those things add up to a gap in US capability, the F-15 that you get anyways has a bit better radar, and no MAWS, IRST, or Harpoon.
IDK about MAWS but IRST and Harpoons are available on other jets you get, there isn’t a gap in capability to fill, I’m sure you’ll get a subtree eventually, but you don’t actually need one, not for air anyways
