Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

given that the Rafale is doing just fine (and not really overperforming compared to typhoon or mirage 2000-5) then I am becoming a firm believer that China should begin receiving it’s ESA radars to remain competitive, any shortcomings in FM, CMs or the PL-12s can be made up for with an eye of sauron radar

J-10B - PESA
J-10C - AESA
J-11B (blk 09) - AESA
J-11BG/BGH - AESA
J-15D/B - AESA
J-15T - AESA
J-16 - AESA
J-16D - AESA (emphasis on jamming iirc)

That’s what I was referring to. The other guy said that the Su-30 was leaked for Russia and China, however only the Su-30SM for Russia was leaked.

The first J-11B would be good, also, due to having one of the best PD radars on top of PL-12s, which aren’t too much worse than AIM-120A/Bs in game, and PL-8Bs, which would be the best IR missiles in game assuming that things like the Python 4 and R-73M aren’t added.

Hello @Smin1080p_WT ! Please remind about this bug-report:
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/zLg8TaKhFDMq
That was 7 months ago.

Problem is, we need a better aircraft to keep up with the powercreep, even 6x PL-12s and a good PD is not really what is required anymore to keep up with the 4.5 gens, especially when all they have to do to improve it is model a later variant of the same airframe but with an AESA (we can still see the J-11B in the future but right now it’s worth it to get a variant that keeps up over one that barely meets the standard)

As it currently stands, PESA and AESA radars are just glorified PD ones in game, so the J-11B will be able to keep up with the Typhoon and such just fine.

I think radar is important but it’s importance is not linear. N001 is too bad to provide basic information, while J-10A’s radar is not very good but just enough to enable J-10A to reach its potential
A super good radar can’t make up for these things, like SU-34.

After the modelling of CAPTOR, another extremely powerful and capable multi-mode PD radar being a complete dumpster fire, i’m more inclined to see gaijin model a new radar instead of attempt to copy the J-10s radar (like they did with the blue vixen), besides there is a very little amount of info available about this PD radar (type 1493 iirc) so it makes more sense to just put the same AESA that they will have to model for a lot of future chinese flankers and model it now, when the best jet in the game already possesses an AESA

The Typhoon is the best jet, not the Rafale.

Both are correct, just like learned and learnt.

If the typhoon had a better radar, off boresight missiles, fixed BOL, fixed MAW then it’d be the best jet, but currently the Rafale has a more capable radar, better fox-3s for the Meta, better CM layout and isn’t hindered by nearly as many bugs as the EFT

Besides I am a Eurofighter superfan so this pains me to say

It’s good enough.

Makes no difference the majority of the time due to range.

It has enough CMs to never have to worry about them.

That doesn’t only affect the Typhoon.

The Typhoon is very much the best jet.

ok I’ll just trust you on this one

Google is a thing if you want to verify it.

If you say so chief, however if it was indeed the best then it wouldn’t be the Rafale deciding matches
The Eurofighter is very much the best FM but lacks in the missile department given the nature of Air RB currently, the radar still has barely been touched since the patch and is still very much underperforming and finally it lacks any form of far off-boresight capability so your HMD is functionally useless outsight of an easy of use while slaving the radar

I googeled it and its a American vs British english thing but both are correct

It’s an inherently british term to say ‘spilt’ over spilled, and often doesn’t come across when learning english as a second language

I haven’t played EFT, but from videos and data mine, I think it’s not so bad? or at least, it’s data is not bad, the main problems are datalink pulled away by missiles and lock switched to IR. Datalink is a commin problem for any radar with high detection capability, we can only wait gaijin fix this with extra game logic.
switched to IR problem, I’m not so sure, but seems a problem in lock ability, and recently gaijin buffed this, not sure if it’s improved.

When will people learn to ignore Alvis
