Yeah I’m hoping for those too. Honestly those 2, the Gnat, Harrier GR.9, the vulcan and the EF are the only things left to be added that would interest me. But instead of those we will most likely get some copy and paste Russian aircraft
We should just have one topic listing all the issues with cockpits and HUDs with the amount of issues there are with them
Why do you talk about Battleships with such contempt?
Battleships are literally the biggest attraction in Naval.
You probably don’t know because you weren’t there back then, but I still remember, back in 2016, the absolute OUTRAGE from the Navy enthusiasts, when the upcoming Naval mode was announced as a “small vessel mode”.
Everyone wanted Battleships, and the backlash was persistent to such degrees that Gaijin re-made their entire vision on the mode and began developing them as an afterthought.
The answer is a comprehensive rework to Naval mission design, balance, and progression.
Naval is the mode with the most room to expand, the most content to add. Gaijin has to know this as they are slowly reaching the upper limits for Ground and Air.
The future of War Thunder depends on Naval being able to expand to its full potential, and that means creating an ecosystem where battleships AND escort ships AND submarines AND likely carriers are all viable and important.
It might sound crazy, but I’d like WT to take a page out of WoWs and balance ships not by “bigger = better” as it currently is, but rather according to their class.
So a Gearing class DD would be a “peak” WW2 destroyer and would be the same rank and BR as the best US WW2 battleship for example. To incentivize people to take the smaller ships you’d change the gamemode so they have a purpose and are rewarded for doing the tasks of a DD or CL or CA and so on…
I absolutely agree. The issue may be how to fit all of these vessel classes into the limited space of five lines for coastal and five lines for bluewater. A challenge, but not impossible.
What I don’t like about that concept is how in WoWs, for example, DDs are able to cause incredible amounts of damage to BBs. HE spam during a few seconds, and the battleship has lost 70% of the HP (imagine crew in WT) with 3 fires.
In fact, the HE bug in War Thunder allowed this to happen till it was partially fixed, and it was frustrating as hell. Destroyers and Atlantas were murdering Battleships before they could reload a single salvo, I really would not like to see that again, even less so as a design choice instead of a bug as we know it.
I would like modes where all kinds of vessels are relevant without rendering others useless, but that would require actual mission/map design.
True, WoWs is more arcadey than WT so I’m not advocating for a change in damage model or anything like that.
I’m simply proposing that the gamemode changes so that combating other player ships is not the only purpose of a ship, but rather one of them. A single DD will never beat a BB in a 1v1, but the DD can solve certain tasks that is impossible for a BB
