Agreed!

For example, lighter vessels and frigates could have the goal of intercepting and escorting landing crafts, while big vessels could have the goal of raiding and protecting merchant ships, and mid sized ships could aid either of these.

Rather than the match just being a “free for all” where either torpedo boats single-handedly win (cap zone maps), or big ships do (big circle mode).

Right, but that’s the thing, with a class-by-class system, the top destroyer doesn’t need to be able to compete against a top battleship, in the same way that a top SPAA doesn’t compete against a top MBT. They will have their own targets to focus on.

Also doing ASW sweeps against AI or player submarines, importantly

As a fleet screen the DD could also spot for torpedoes and mark them so the BBs can evade.

Not sure how realistic it would be, but maybe they can use hydrophone for that as well as visual

Honestly I’ve been wanting to write a suggestion along these lines for a long time, but the scope of it is so massive that I’m not even sure where to begin.

Naval has so much potential, I don’t want it to die

either way subs will be at a massive disadvantage

they won’t be as OP as people make them out to be and we could see that in the Konvoi Event

For sure. People tend to forget that subs mainly went after merchant vessels

They were terribly slow submerged and had no chance to keep up with warships.

Lethal in an ambush for sure, but it’s difficult to surprise anyone in a video game where everything is more or less predictable.

So tradable Po-2 this year? Question mark

that all changed very quickly after the war

the awnser to that question is somewhere between unlikely and No

exactly

Hmmm we would need bigger maps and longer lasting battles for subs to truly be able to stretch their legs though

Naval EC maybe, but regular maps would be way too small

God I hope so, that or just make it available for everyone to research like the Maus. I really want to get the PO-2 but every year I’ve tried I’ve just been busy and haven’t been able to even get close to top 1000. If you have a job or a life outside of War Thunder your chances of getting it are close to 0

Naval EC should be always available and have a variant with redesigned mechanics, probably will yield a lot of rewards

we could also nust put their spawn somewhere in the middle of the map where they’ll be close to enemy ships immediately

both quick to sink and quick to get sunk

a reason for desteoyers to rush to the open see and that in return is a reason for BBs to be happy until that torpedo puts them back to reality

There has to be a way to fit more complex gameplay onto a standard-sized map that will give the fast action Gaijin wants… it will just require breaking free of the current mode design.

Meh, Naval EC isn’t fun unless you somehow manage to find a match that hasn’t begun yet.

You spawn in, limited to 5.0 ships, while half the enemy team is already on 7.0s. So all you can do is sail for 25 minutes until you get stomped.

that would be the best option

just Naval EC on some nice Gigantic map on a historic site

can’t wait to put on some Klaus doldinger and go hunting

Exactly. Submarines are stealth vessels, but that’s their only advantage. Once detected, they are very vulnerable.
