N3 is imho a better battleship design. The Lions are all fundamentally handicapped as a byproduct of being as close the the KGVs as feasibly possible and then an evolution of that design. Keeping in mind the KGV is the most limited treaty design limited by Washington and both London treaties.
So N3 modernised with new AA, FCS, shells, supercharges machinery etc i suspect would be a better ship in a 1v1 engagement particularly as large Lions also sacrificed speed.
N3 as built would lose to any upgraded Lion class evolution as the 16/45 mk.2 is, akin to the 15/42, 15/45, 14/45 an exceptionally accurate gun with predicted dispersion at 10,000 yds less than many other 16" guns have at 2000.
Here’s how I would guess the game would implement carriers:
Aircraft are the carrier’s “ammunition.” Each carrier has a limited selection of aircraft in its air wing, and different aircraft types and armaments are unlocked as modifications.
In battle, when you chose a target, you can pick an aircraft type and “fire” a small flight of AI-controlled aircraft (flight size depends on carrier, nation, and era) to attack it. “Firing” without a target will make the flight conduct a combat air patrol around the carrier, attacking anything within a radius. When a flight has used all of its ammunition, it will automatically return to the carrier to rearm and repair.
it wont change anything, only 3 alaska class BC can take out 10 plane at the same time without any issue, than good luck convincing someone to spend ALL his game praying for a single sub to appear at the place he is because if there is no sub he would spend his entire game doing nothing but waiting for a sub. its like a SPAA but that can be oneshotted by anything at the start of the game.

You spawn a squadron of planes, which you can either lead by playing the leader plane yourself, or command from the carrier to carry out actions.
When you fly the leading plane, all others mimic your actions; so if you dive on a ship and drop the bomb, the rest of the planes mirror you and do so as well simultaneously.
Etc.
We already have the basic premise with scout planes implemented!

huh do you know what a sub is? isn’t the goal of a sub not to be seen? the time you die, that you noticed that OH there is a sub, pick you destroyer, rejoin the main fleet where everyone is, the sub would have the time to kill half your team.
As someone who wants to see submarines added, this is exactly why Naval needs a comprehensive rework.
Because submarines will likely be added at all BRs, anti-submarine vessels like destroyers and frigates need to be relevant at all BRs. But it’s the current game mode/mission design that limits this.
If there were AI-controlled aircraft or torpedo boat squadrons that destroyers could screen against, they would have something to do even at higher BRs. Which would encourage Gaijin to reevaluate both the current naval BRs as well as the coastal/bluewater split.
All of these shortcomings in design feed into each other in the current naval mode, limiting what could be the most dynamic and tactical of all gameplay modes. Right now, Naval’s design only favors the biggest ships with the biggest guns, when all vessels should have a role to play.
Saturation attacks by large AShMs are a particularly nasty thing against carrier groups as well.
Especially if we are talking about pre aegis days.
