So the only difference between Arcade battles and Realistic battles should be the rewards? At this point unite in a single game mode.
Has anyone been experiencing this weird thing? Every time I select an enemy my guns don’t elevate and I shoot directly in front of me. Only When they are in open water with nothing obstructing them will my guns elevate it’s so frustrating at the moment. Also, my guns are now permanently locked to the target and will not move unless you unselect the target. Is this a bug or working as intended, I know it wasn’t like this a couple weeks ago.
@NueHoujuu Yes, I just got this problem too. I thought I’m the only one. It’s frustrating, yesterday was fine.
Old player here (basically from the beta) and I can say that, while realistic mode remained mostly the same, the mix of the new aiming system and the self destruction of the ship after a certain amount of damage to a single part of the hull just promoted a hyper-passive gameplay all around.
Now everybody (especially the uptiered ships) just camp their own spawns, flee to the edge of the map or hug islands.
Those who dare to play the objective are immediately focused and angling your ship doesn’t help as everybody learned to only shoot at the bow of the ship (no matter the class) to trigger the hullbreak system.
Now everybody just endlessly wait in fear untill the timer runs out and the team who killed more bots wins.
That’s no game mode, it’s a gatcha where you have to wait 25min to know the result…
Emm, it works only on small boats you know? And you can kill target way faster if you spread you fire all over the enemy target destroying all compartments.
My bad, I wasn’t very clear.
That sentence was aimed for the coastal part of the game as seeing high tier 200K+ rp units melted by high DPS destroyers (even tier II ones) just because they showed a tiny bit of their ship is sad, especially for those who have researched them. (as you said this mechanic is only active on the coastal side of the TT)
That’s always true and the best counter to it was to plan your route to the objective so that you’ll show only your bow to the enemy, minimizing your silhouette to avoid damage.
Now it’s simply too easy to aim even at a small spec of the ship and still hit the compartment with almost no problem.
It makes tactics almost irrelevant, as one can aim at the base of your funnels to have a clean shot into your engines due to how the aiming system and dispersion works.
Yup, seems brand new to today’s patch… they fixed desync and managed to break something completely different.
For those experiencing the elevation bug in arcade, it appears it is caused by being behind most land, even if its way in front of you and surface level. There is a bug report started that you can contribute a click to and get this fixed asap;

This has been marked as fixed. However, it isnt. My Rodney was either firing several km too short or several km too long. Target ships weren’t behind an island as such, though there were one or more flat land masses between us.
Thanks Gaijin, you gave us something that we didnt ask for, didnt need, no alternative aiming/firing method in NAB and then broke it.
Edit: If you are going to force this aiming method on us, then just rip the code from the Chinese bots. They seem to have it all worked out. I doubt they are going to chase you for copyright infringement
Yup, I started another bug report if we all want to pile onto it. The bug reporting system is pretty unwieldy to say the least.

Totally agree on the new aiming system though. No alternatives for us to use when its broke, rushed out, and pushed to live without taking feedback.
They appear to have closed comments on your report. I wish I could say I was shocked that they needed a replay, when they could simply play one match. They hate us and play their own game mode.
@here
Finally allowed a suggestion to go through.

I was wondering if anyone else had reported this.
I didn’t like the new aiming system, well still don’t but I have learnt I can still print money with the system so I’ll get over it.
But this new error is a pain. Seemingly they’ve looked to correct the new issue that you can effectively laser beam any sighted vessel across the map from anywhere, admittedly it is frustrating to be a victim of. However in what I believe was an attempt to fix it, they’ve made it worse. Now some ships can target others while others can’t fire back or nobody can fire at anybody. Some maps are worse than others to the point of being unplayable.
I’ve somewhat gotten over my dislike for the new system, but still trying to decide if its worth switching to realistic instead.
I think they were trying to improve the accuracy of the new system in the first place, broke obstructed aiming, didn’t truely fix it despite saying they did, and now we are going on week…2(?) of arcade being rather unplayable on many maps.
I’ve kinda lost the drive to play while I know this issue exists, which is a shame because I really do like naval… even if the new fire changes make it rather painful at times.
Just dialled in for the first game today. 22nd April. Still killing fish 500 metres away or 5 klm behind where I’m shooting. Hope they fix it soon or it’s back to Planes. I was sunk again from torpedo’s appearing from under Islands, Thought that was fixed a year ago.
Yup, the problem is still there and its incredibly frustrating on maps like these.
To avoid being farmed by light cruisers (thanks naval compression) I sailed into the islands and basically ended doing almost zero damage because all the props around those (cranes, small houses, small hills etc) made the aiming system go full “dumb mode”.
It makes all skill lost everywere you look.
Passive gamers that just sit in spawn spamming shells everywhere get rewarded, active players that try to play the objective and know map positioning get punished.
Also, if you try to set “realistic aiming” in the options it just overrides it in game and says “nope, you’re stuck with me now”.
The bug report got reopened in case anyone would like to contribute more.
I guess they can’t figure out how to recreate it despite the numerous instructions and a replay explicitly showing firing behind islands vs open water in a custom battle.
