Multipathing doesn’t work if the missile is lofted and coming down on you.
If your plan is to fly low and try to be immune to missiles you will die a lot.
On the deck is the worst possible place to be. It gives you no flexibility, going up kills you and hugging the dirt will multipath missiles shot head on but as mentioned not from above.
120s have a lot of energy they are not the fastest but they drift long distances, do not recommit when you think the missile is defeated take that extra 10 or so seconds to ensure the missile is defeated. Too many times the jet is killed by turning into the path of a drifting 120.
Finally do not be afraid of altitude, even Su-27 with crappy radars can BVR
Learn how to defend and notch and you can beat any 120/R-77 etc
don’t panic look at where the missile has been shot from line up the RWR at 100 degrees of it (over 90 degrees) and then chaff, change your altitude slightly for when the missile goes into its IOG terminal guidance mode.
in my current match, i got killed by an AIM-120A when i was returning to base, multipathing and technically, knowing that the enemy plane launched it at 90º of my plane, notching.
so, who says AIM-120 doesn’t need nerfs?
plus, it was launched at the same altitude i was flying, 37m
at least u need to admit that the ARB maps are hateful cuz they are full of uneven terrain, where u pass from 40m to 70m in 1seg and the ARH missile recognize that difference and locks on the last milisecond to kill u
I rarely rely upon MP to defeat SARH or ARH missiles and prefer to rely upon notch+chaff and terrain masking. Its far more reliable and hopefully MP will be reduced even further, so its good to learn these skills now.
Though all the times i’ve played ARB recently (usually in the Tornado GR4) and whenever I play my main gamemode, ASB. I’ve been able to stay below 30-40m (usually below about 150 ft (45m)) without much issue. Though, in something like the Typhoon Im rarely below 20k ft (6000m) and even in the Tornado F3 these days I generally operate more like 10k ft (3000m)
dude, u know how hard is to stay at -50m in Moscu, Smolensk, España, etc
especially at high speeds, where u don’t have that maneuverability u have at mid speeds
I dont know ARB map names off the top of my head. But again, if your only defence is MP, then you should learn alternatives methods of defending and free yourself from the deck. All missiles, ARH especially, perform way better up high. You’re in a plane not a tank, so get off the deck. Only thing hugging the deck should be mud movers
By flying that low, you and your MP “reflection” are practically in the same place. Against a threat fired at you from the same alt, you might be better off actually being more like 30-40m rather than 10m
