Being toughened up for carrier operation did take away its mojo for sure but its still a quality turner.
i have hammered them in a harrier many times (just as I’ve kicked regular SU30s) because I know how to handle my aircraft at low speeds better (not just pull the cobra button) however I do believe that my victories are usually more out of enemy pilot error than airframe advantages.
even knowing that Su-30SM is ABSURDLY nerfed with its sh*t engines and bad maneuverability (without TVC), the R-77-1 SHOULD be nerfed.
i got a lot of test drives on it (i love it, its my dream to get it, just 160.952 RP more) and the R-77-1 is very good at all ranges, i never did kills at more than 20km, but i got kills at 42km in the R-27ER, and knowing that the R-77-1 is pretty similar, its could be even better.
so yes, even being a “soviet main” (not anymore, Tornado IDS WTD61 4ever to get EF-2000, i bought it in the 50% discounts), i know its so OP and it should be nerfed
Probably low, It does not have the climb rate or TWR to be good at high alt and a shockingly bad radar. (typhoons also not great but should be a lot better)
Su-30 though, should defo be up high, if nothing else, you dont need to defend always as you can PESA + R-77-1 down any incoming missiles
nah you are literally trying to use test drive only experience as reason for nerfing a missile that isnt overperforming in any metric nor is the jet (su30) overperforming as its worse than both EF and Rafale overall.
that isn’t gonna do much against a IRIS-T or ASRAAM mate. the F22 will still be bloody brilliant but with just 9X and 120d it will be outmatched in SRAAM and BVRAAM loadouts
on meteor in particular this might not be true as aim 120D has shown similar range but the biggest thing is the close quarters nature of warthunder where the meteors slower acceleration will be a significant detriment
The real solution GJ must do is…ECM/ECCM.
Let’s start with simple things as flooding and radar interference in general since radars are already in game and then go pods etc. I don’t think it would be too difficult for the game .
To be honest, his claim about Su-30SM’s engine sounds exactly the same as Americanboos which claimed that [F-15E historical FM nerf] was nothing but russian bias and soviet conspiracy.
:/
In wt a small chaff has a rcs larger than a fighter, and when you notched, your echo have a same frequency as a stationary chaff, so the doppler seeker head lose track. The missile will then use a range gate, modelled similar to a monopulse seeker ingame, leading to a IR way of seeker logic for they shares similar codes, and eventually sees both the fighter and the chaff and goes for the chaff with a larger signal.
