Its just broken:
multipathing? free kill
notching? ignores it completely
multipathing + notching + 30 chaffs? nah, dude, i’m too broken.
and the people saying that Russian Bias exists just don’t know how painful is to play with Russia.
have a nice day and be kind when critizing this post

sigh
no its not.
Mpath is too favoursome in game and it is not a garantee of safety and never should be
chaff is iffy at times, near useless with BOL ill give you this, a combination of chaff, notch and mpath give your best chances but of course is not ever a guarantee of safety and should never be
this is only because russia has nothing that can hold a candle to 25+ year old western airframes, which dont even have their service missiles yet.
looking at statshark your K/D in the SU27/sm is competent, I’m assuming you’ve had a bad spell of luck against F15 and Rafale?

Guess we need to nerf R-77-1 too then
Same here. Though MICA EM is by far the strongest when it comes to resisting Notching
Then you are notching wrong.
I know that PESA radar + 14x AAMs must be pure suffering for them at top tier

We’re at a point of technology in War Thunder where certain weapons are going to be downright better than their competitors. If you make the clearly better weapon on par with a worse one, it goes against the historical and realistic precedent in War Thunder. Same goes with buffing the worse weapon(s). The weapon itself is not at fault, it’s just the way Air battles at top tier play out currently.

Now it’s Pure Skill Issue TM
120 is the worst missile for duels, and a lottery missile for normal RB matches.
Range? Just notch
Seeker? Just notch
Close range Pulls? Nerfed to none
Off axis? Nerfed with pulls
If you want to kill some noobs who don’t even know how to notch/mp, a Derby or a R77 can also do the job
If you’d play in the lottery way, better pray that they are indeed defending a missile from another direction, meanwhile not in MP, nor knowing how to 90deg dive to notch all directions.

Which is in part why all but the MICA EM (of the “modern” ARH missiles) have 100% identical seekers and why I suspect IIR on all Gen 5 IR missiles will also be identical and the only difference of meaningfulness will be the missile kinematics.
Even countermeasures are all carbon copies of the Soviet Flare and Chaff with no uniqueness from nation to nation. Only BOL is unique and nerfed through the floor for “balance”
Heck, Multipath is even the same for all. We could easily bug report AMRAAM as having a min engagement alt of 40m not 60m and Skyflash as low as 33m.

WT is hellbent on escalating thew weapons at top tier so America and russia (with china by extension) are gonna be significantly behind Britain and France (and kinda germany) and it cant be balanced out.
IRIS-T, Asraam, and the meteor are so far ahead of anything everyone else is fielding that top tiers meta will not hold a major nation in the fullest extent, its going to be weird in the next two years

Nah, get ready for F-22s with Aim-9X and Su-57 with R-74M vs Typhoon with Aim-9M :P

Eventially we will see ASRAAM on something although likely relegated to GR9a, even like that a raptor or felon doesn’t have much hope to deal with it.
typhoon may get her towed decoy one day too
Im just hoping the Typhoons gets 1/10th of the CAPTOR-M modeled

Multipath doesnt work if the missile is launched right above you

The Aim-120 is actually one of the most mid ARH missiles in WT. In terms of performance, it’s not the top of anything really. Excluding the Aim-54/Fakour, it’s beat out by the R-77-1 in range, every other ARH in pull, and even speed. Its range and speed retention are its strong suits. However, the AAM-4 is literally just a prenerf Aim-120. I don’t know why, but almost nobody is talking about it. Same range, same speed, almost the same warhead, but the AAM-4 pulls better.
I’m not necessarily saying the Aim-120 is bad, but to say it’s the best when the MICA, R-77-1, and AAM-4 exist just doesn’t make sense.

i turn the radar off and just use HMD its that trash
Isn’t the whole point of chaff in game to spoof missiles when you don’t have time to get into a perfect notch and then change altitude? I’ve never had to use chaff to defeat an ARH fired on me from longer than like 15-20km depending on aspect. Some of these posts read like they are using chaff like flares against IR missiles. Doesn’t chaff only spoof the missile for an extremely short amount of time when not in a perfect notch but still near one, and only does anything if you are using right before impact? Since chaff gets filtered out almost instantly from PD once it loses speed and the seeker can still see your plane which moves considerably faster like not even a second after chaff is fired?
Even if this is a ragebait, if anyone thinks the current 120 is ‘broken’ you probably never had the chance to use it day 1 before it got savagely gimped.
