Nerf AIM-120A/B

Ok straight up, anyone that says the AMRAAM is op in 2025 let alone saying the r77 is bad as of current are exposing that they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about let alone understand game mechanics or comp.

Also in 2 or 3 particular threads there’s a certain subset of players on this forum that try to massively downplay the su30sm and I find it absolutely hilarious

Where is the thread owner because the issue is not AMRAAM. it’s how the ARH get a pseudo 9M seeker-like guidance and reacquisition on ALL radar missile basically made notching a continuous effort instead of a one-off event that is done as long as the missile lock is defeated. nerf that and the game would be more bearable.

You don’t and it’s easily repeatable

Try to evade fox-3s by notching while they’re significantly above you and you’ll notice how easy they’re to evade.

spoiler: you won’t even need chaff due to how they’re modelled.

Which is correct function.

It is not continuous at all if you exit the seekers search cone, which is easy to do.

Missile warning-> 90° notch-> split -S 180° down and maintain new direction for a few seconds → turn back in

Yep, totally agree.

R-77 might have had some weaknesses (though I am of the opinion that the weak M-Scan radar in the Su-27 was more to blame than anything else)

But R-77-1 + The Su-30SMs PESA radar are an incredibly powerful combo almost without equal. R-77-1 do have some weaknesses regarding excessive drag, but if you play around that weakness then they are just as strong as AMRAAM and the fact you average 2-3 times the AAM count totally and completely mitigates any 1 for 1 disadvantages they may have,

Heck (and this is largely an ASB thing that probably wont happen as much in ARB) i’ve had fights with an Su-30SM in the Typhoon where they just shot down my AMRAAMs all whilst keeping me on the defensive. They didnt even try to defend.

well. shows how mighty shit this game is for not providing tutorial on how to do shit and I found answer on a forum replies instead. goddamn 80$ premium and nothing on the UX reflect that.

Gaijin? Add useful tutorials for core parts of gameplay?

Dont be silly :P

(i still think they need to add one for IFF and make it mandatory before joining an ASB match above BR 8.0)

If the enemy is guiding the missile with IOG+ Data link, you arent notching a missile

Yea u are
its either iog or data link not both of them toogether
Iog can be notched normaly with a simple manuver to get out of the seeker way
Dl is a bit harder but if u keep the notch the missile will miss u

This is incorrect… you can notch missiles with IOG+DL support

thread owner is slinking back to his hole after he get his R-77-1.

I know for a fact, that both of you @noamax @AllNationEnjoyer are wrong: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/pl3Jr_yihkE?feature=share

Lucky shot on bad angle the enemy didnt fully notched at the end
99% of the time it wont work
Try it yourself on custom

Did you even watch his radar lock? The target wasn’t even close to maintaining his notch through the engagement.

All that happened here was he maintained the DL+IOG through his targets notch and then when it left the missiles seeker was close enough to pick it up.

IOG will only get the missile close. If you are maneuvering in the notch and maintain it until the missile passes it will not get close enough. This is amplified if the shooter stays in TWS and cannot afford to STT as the IOG will not update as quickly.

This also only works when the shooter is under no pressure. If the target even just panic fires a return shot at max gimbal it will for the shooter to turn away themselves.

Im not getting into this debate because I think you could have a dozen shots and the answer for when or if DL or IOG was enabled or not could be debated.

Ultimately, I just consider it largely black magic and I just aim to fire under good conditions and maintain track on the target if possible, worse case scenario it doesnt do anything.

That having been said, I want to say there was something added relatively recently with regard to “look-Down” shots and the DL+IOG playing a larger part as the missile not having PD can loose the taret in the ground clutter and so will rely more heavily on the DL.

I always datalink if i can, and i get my missiles notched all the time

because he’s wrong… and VERY adamant about being wrong
