Nerf AIM-120A/B

Not really? I don’t know but both of them having still absurd amounts of drag compared to irl seems pretty gimped to me.

I mean sure, doesn’t make them any less gimped. Also guess what, the R-77-1 is also significantly newer than aim120A.

Never said the opposite

also not really

Surely bro

it has been discusses plenty already. there is nothing free, planar fins dont just manage to achieve that much maneuverability for free. if you brought r77-1 to realistic engagement altitudes(which we dont go ingame) you would likely see fairly close numbers in range to real life. the missile is a single pulse planar fin missile, its not going to outrange traditional fin dual pulse missiles, nobody uses planar fins on missiles beside r77, and russia is dropping them with r77m.

Ya but isn’t it a problem they are both teams? Imagine for instance the situation with the F14 when it released if America wasn’t on both teams? Their WR would be significantly higher.

Except they aren’t?

They are. And they are not supposed to be. They are still much slower and less kinetic energy.

They are? Regardless which part u are talking about.

I advocate equally for all nations. I just also point out when people have an overly high bias towards one nation… I’ve already explained the usernames in the past (engagement bait) so you harping on them is willful ignorance.

They aren’t worse than AMRAAM currently. They have better firing envelopes and better time to target over useful ranges, while having nearly the same time to target over uselessly long range.

Claiming the AIM-120 is some giga-missile in-game currently is just outting yourself as someone too stupid to avoid ARHs in general.

The only situation in which it is the best is in the absolute maximum range launch, and even that is only marginally best now that the R-77-1 is ingame. The only people this is going to hit is cro-magnan level intellect.

In every other category it performs worse. It has worse time to target, worse firing envelope, and it doesn’t even have the benefit of every missile having identical seekers anymore.

Within 10km, which is where ARHs are actually most useful, it could be argued it is the worst ARH, even compared to the Derby or R-Darter!

The R-77-1 is much faster than the AMRAAM.

aim120 is only the best if notching and multipathing were removed (and the best planes would be F-15E and or EFT instead of rafale)

Even then, the R-77-1 has nearly the same longe range potential, while having enough magazine depth to just shoot down every missile fired against its carrier and then freely engage a guns only target

Under those conditions, Id still fear the Su-30 and Rafale more.

The window in which AMRAAM would hold a clear advantage would be pretty small and would give any target plenty of time to terrain mask or kinematically exhaust the missile.

But the SU-30 and Rafale with their respective missile would be a far more deadly combo once the ranges close, as both missiles are harder to defeat kinematically at short to medium ranges and the radar advantages both have would make firing much easier.

In teh Typhoon I’ve had plenty of fights where I simply couldnt get a missile off in the window in which I might have held a clear range advantage because my radar didnt want to cooperate.

  1. IT should be.
  2. IT is only so in a straight line, once turn is involved it is much slower.

Well except from R77-1, everything is then a tier down in terms of BVR. Partly of course, the kinetic capabilities of F15E and EF2k, but also it is just more consistent in terms of kinetics. I haven’t played a load of games, 10 maybe 12, but I didn’t feel it is any different mid to short range compared to R77 or PL12. MICA is obviously a different story.

You had a slur in the post.

i think that if anyone fails to notch an amraam then they just dont know how to notch

You openly preach against US/NATO players most of the time, yet you always see yourself “advocating for all nations”. Something doesn’t fit there.

It takes you way more posts to ‘point out’ redfor players than blufor, to the point most of the redfor you point at are basically obvious engagement trolls —even for redfor players themselves— like Scorpions, so that argument of yours is as valid as wet paper.

Cute euphemism to disclaim any liability from the names you take. Also, the moment you have to start explaining why are you using X or Y username to ‘satirize’ instead of ‘make fun of’ is a very blurry line, given your narratives and activity.

Given the previous point, harping on them is a reminder of who we (everyone) are talking with.

I’m still waiting for a ‘satire’ name for WW2 German mains, USSR cold war mains or Chinese/French dudes (we’ll never get one because this guy’s argument is shortsighted and pretentious).

You just contradicted yourself…
