Navy Arcade Sucks Now

Other than having to adjust distance in aiming, what was the difference between realistic and arcade before the update?

Rapid ranging. In Realistic, ranging is quite slow (by warthunder standards), and updates equally slowly requiring one to make mental adjustments and predictions based on age of information, heading and speed or wait until the instant of the next ranging solution.

Turret turns, ship turn and speed rates, markers, rangefinding speed, distance measuring update rate, bombs and torps reload.

And there was no difference in that only visual appearance of it(You also could enable “realistic” aiming in AB).

realistic has no enemy markers (ships and planes) on the map (even enemy is at close range) - torpedos and ships are slower and there is no automatic reload for torpedos or missiles which make pt-boats much less of use. But on the other hand we have still a shellcam which is weird.

Only its not easier at all. If your shells fall short or go long, you have no way of adjusting fire. Scroll wheel does nothing. So you just have to rely 100% on Gaijin doing all the aiming for you, there is no skill, its purely the luck of the draw whether Gaijins new mechanic lets you hit or miss.

You just don’t figured out how to do that.

Have you tried moving the mouse to where they’re turning?
The guns lead for you, they don’t 100% aim for you.

In my matches my mouse is covering the ship, and when turning I go to the inside of their circle, and I get consistent hits.

There are issues with Realistic though, which is why players liked Arcade.
Planes for one. Personally i never got to grips with RB planes…i prefer the Arcade modelling of planes because they dont fall apart when you dive to attack stuff (yes a skill issue, but one i dont have to deal with in Arcade). So in RB i wouldn’t use planes at all.
Torpedoes reloading is a big issue. When you are in coastal craft, after about 5 minutes of gameplay all the Destroyers and Light Cruisers have invaded the coastal boast spawn and you have no chance against them once your initial torpedoes have been expended, unless you are somehow able to sit on a cap long enough to resupply.

I dont have issues with leading. Even just basic combat with the enemy ship parallel to me, i get hits, but some shells fall short. With you old Realistic Aiming mode you could scrollwheel a little to fire further so that more of the shells would connect.
So what is im missing if my mouse pointer is pointing at the centre of mass and half the shells fall short?

Had time now to test naval-arcade in different scenarios and I am pretty certain that narrative about it being new-player friendly is simply bullshit. In scenarios where you in PT boat get to destroyer game or in destroyer to cruiser/dreadnought game you get annihilated 10x times quicker than before. Every 37/40mm gun starts accuratly engaging you at 6-7km, while rapid firing 76/100mm’s blast destroyers out of existance at 8-9km range. Esentially now whoever has best ship WINS. It’s even worse than I thought initially lol

Zoom out or, if you have trouble, use third party view.

Did you know that the far you are from target the much smaller it looks? And much inaccurate you aim? And why should i zoom out and loose accuracy if observers on ship don’t do that .

Now they fall apart if you are getting near any red dot. Every dinky captain and his dog can unleash a wall of fire at you. Your chances to use planes are minimal if enough bots are in the game.

After playing arcade for a while, having some fun with the new rank 2 deathstar (arconia), I am seriously considering to move to realistic for nations where I have maxed out crews.

You…you don’t realize there’s zoom between 0% and 100%, do you….

Did you know you will be less accurate, if you don’t see your target? Zoom out, so you can see it. It’s not hard.

Sorry, scroll is on vertical adjustments. No place for that tweaking, time is money.
And remember this is stationary target example in RB in real fight AB it’s way worse.

I don’t need that, i feel the green “V” and the dummy in the corner. But that’s not entertaining, cause i don’t see how my target blow up from my shots, with new system it is.

All I can say is that if I knew they’d do this, I wouldn’t spend my last 3 months slowly grinding to BBs. It’s impossible to hit anyone changing their speed or while I’m changing speed now. The game clearly is inept at calculating the landing zone unless both the target and launcher speed is constant. Obviously this includes maneuvering as well.

I get their intention and it could work if it did but it doesn’t work so now any long range engagement against anyone having a clue is pointless. Without any reference on an open sea, I can’t gauge if the target is speeding up or slowing down and lead accordingly.
