I can understand disliking a less involved version of aiming, and you can dislike Arcade. But for those playing it, this is a big change that I personally feel takes away any level of enjoyment.
I like the less involved version, it’s a good change IMO.
It’s truly disheartening to see Naval Arcade reduced to a latency competition where victory hinges solely on who has the lowest ping.
My comment in support of the new AB aiming on the main thread:
Um… no where close.
Latency does not matter in naval in general, and never will.
The vehicles are too slow and the distances too far.
I say this as someone that plays all servers and haven’t even switched off Europe for ground RB which is the only mode where latency really matters.
EDIT: The “Realistic Aiming” does not work in Arcade Matches currently. I consider this a bug, have submitted a report: Community Bug Reporting System
Another post I made on main thread, I think we should advocate for giving players the option to choose between all 3 aiming modes for Naval Arcade:
What’s your highest ping?
I tried selecting that option but it doesn’t work at the moment, at least not in a test sail
Dangit…I will test in a live match here to confirm, and edit my posts with the update. Thanks for the info.
EDIT #1: Confirmed, the “Realistic Aiming” does not work in Arcade Matches anymore. I consider this a bug, and will create a bug report and post link here in a moment.
EDIT #2: Bug report submitted: Community Bug Reporting System
yeah, the introduction of the new AB aiming system actually broke this setting. So you’re stuck with this new system in AB whether you want to or not for some reason.
Least bugged War Thunder update
180 when connecting to Asia.
Played Naval AB for a couple of years and enjoyed it after learning what to do …. until today … completely soulless and unplayable … so off to RB and learn all over again
Navy arcade mode is totally broken since this update. Stuff flying around everywhere, everyone in the chat complaining that no aiming possible, you aim left the bullets go right, you click something and bullets go somewhere without your control. Totally useless. Beyond that, the continuous calculation seems to challenge the server the ships are moving awkward and it is really a pain.
And anyway - why do they introduce such a major change with a small note in the changelog under ‘other items’ - and no tutorial or anything.
If I would deliver in such a way at work…
I have noticed some wonky-ness with the aiming too, rounds leading WAY too far left or right. I have not figured out if it’s MY ship’s movement, or the opponent’s movement causing it, or maybe something else. But I definitely have started noticing some oddness too.
I also don’t like the fact that now, I cannot even see where my rounds are. This was always a problem with deck guns on coastal boats but now its even worse. Get a few dozen people firing all over the place and since the aiming isn’t correct you have no idea where your rounds are landing. They really need to roll this change back and provide a beta test of new mechanics before implementing them in any update. This is a really bad change.
Well, TBF, the change was live on the Dev server lol. Like I said earlier though, even though I mostly like the new Naval Arcade aiming, I am reading all the comments and will advocate for players who have issues with it and/or want the change rolled back.
Yes but I don’t see the dev server as a beta test, I see it as a “this is what’s coming guys like it or not brace for impact”. They should set a mode aside in game for at least several weeks dedicated to that specific mechanic or mechanics to get feed back on. Lumping it in on the dev server with the size of the updates they push is not feasible for proper feedback.
I see your point, and I would support that. I actually don’t spend a lot of time on the Dev server because I don’t get any SL’s to burn on the crate events 😂 So, an “event” type thing where I could still work on my SL stockpile would for sure get me to try out new mechanics a lot more.
The aiming is broken. In theory you don’t have to lead but in practice you have to but without indicator.
Not to mention that shells go everywhere except for where I aim!
