Naval needs hard BR restrictions other than +/-1

I’m saying 5.3 because it’s what I know.

5.3 shouldn’t be getting 6.3. Too often I run my 5.3 US lineup (Porter, Somers, Moffet) only to get blown off the planet by a team full of Prinze Eugens and an assortment of 6.3 BCs and BBs (if there are 6 and 6.3 BBs… I can’t keep track of everything killing me).

Peer to Peer naval is fun but the power jumps between classes and BR, and how those two play in to each other just do not work with the cut and paste* +1/-1 air and ground get.

There also needs to be restrictions in maps. “Encounter” and “Conquest” simply do not work with anything less than CAs (light cruisers) at minimum.

I feel naval is in a horrible death cycle of:

Too frustrating so not many play it
Not many play it so Gaijin doesn’t devote much time and resource to it
Not enough attention/care causes less people to play it
Repeat

The chain has to be broken.

Sidenote: how are human players spawning Light Cruisers on Light (destroyer/coastal) spawn points?

Finally: AA on auto needs to be HEAVILY nerfed. Why even bother having the human have the option to control it if they are already aimbot levels of accurate when left on their own?

IF you want naval to die, just kill it. If you want it to live it needs care. Not content. Not packs. Not events.

EDIT* In fact now that I think of it, naval is just copy and paste ground. That doesn’t work. They are two separate beasts. But matchmaking, map rotation, BR spread and basic mechanics are all just ground. It doesn’t work.

This current “Naples of The East” event is absolute torture and not fun at all. Last time I did an event like this it was the Boxer, and I did every single level to the fullest. This time, I’m not done the second level yet and I am considering just not doing it anymore, because it’s not enjoyable. The mode has too many problems for an event like this.

EDIT 2: just now got a Conquest map with my 5.3 lineup of Destoyers. I’m not spawning in. That’s a waste of time. Absolutely stupid to play that. The problem is on naval being a messed up copy paste, not on me for doing that. You shouldn’t make a player want to do that.

EDIT 3: Encounter with 5.3 Destroyer lineup. I quit that one too.

EDIT 4: After an 8 minute 42 second crewlock I got the exact same Encounter map with my 5.3 Destroyers

Correction: Every naval event is torture.

Not only because we only get a copy-pasted vehicle with no unique features
(Of course, Ground or Air also gets some of the copy-pasted vehicles, but not always. right?)
but also because naval mode is the worst gamemode if we only see how it is broken.

I still remember how disappointed I was after I got Alcione…

I have seriously considered going back to WoWS, something I haven’t touched since 2015. Gaijin really ought to think about whether they are competing, or whether they are inadvertently helping the other team…

I tried when they were running some kind of weeb collaboration event (I don’t remember what it was)
and came back to WT after I tasted the submarine’s torpedo, which guided into my battleship directly…

I almost thought those subs were firing AIM-7M with PD radar underwater. :P

Well War Thunder has furries and body pillows so you can’t escape the cringe.

Gaijin just decompressed naval by 1.0 BR.
Give them time to get data and balance things.

AA was already nerfed this major update.

WoWS is far more compressed than War Thunder, and is a far worse experience in PVE, and PVP WoWS is gone.
If I want arcade ship movement I’ll just play arcade War Thunder.

Correction: Gaijin just decompressed Bluewater by 1.0 BR.

With exaggeration, I think Gaijin gave up on balancing the coastal part.
2.3BR gunboats are literally easy meat for 3.3BR reserve destroyers. :|

If we consider that Gaijin implemented a ‘separate BR’ for naval mode,
Naval mode also needs to be decompressed to 10.0+

The BS is that small boats constantly fight against corvette class ships and bigger nowdays. You spawn and explode.

Good luck fighting Flower class or those French abominations with a machine gun.

Here it is match making of the warthunder, where you forced to play on most popular BR bracket near your setup. Instead of fair 30 uptier, 40 you tier, 30 downtier. On the top of that, maps are chosen by top BR player of the match instead of average BR.

i made a suggestion for all modes to have a max uptier of .7 and it never went through they denied it and still havent found out why

This problem could be solved with different approach

I thought naval guys have always been waiting and this is all to be done after all the queueing behind air and ground?

every time new vehicles are added they compress BRs so if we make uptiers a max of .7 it would reduce the amount of vehicles facing the new vehciles
for example 13.0 F14B would be max fighting 13.7 SU27SM which is far more fair then fighting EF2000 at 14.0
some day if game gets big enouugh id love to see .3

I play naval, and if I feel I can’t play a certain ship I stop playing it after 5 - 10 matches and play different ships.

Liscomb and Brantford are rank 2 so I can’t farm event.

I love the Fairmiles and Grey Fox.
I haven’t tried thinking about the Arrow or Fremantle yet.
IF I feel a coastal vessel is particularly bad I’ll play naval arcade first to see if that revives them [it did for Soviet river boats], and if it doesn’t I’ll just not play the ship.

If you need more DPS against Ashville, make sure to have a mixed load of ammo belts.

Traded firepower with steel hull, which aren’t as strong as coastal spawn frigates.

.7 isn’t too intuitive, and I think decompression would be better (Though gaijin probably won’t do either knowing their ways).

Was ever thus. The Fairmiles are appallingly bad.

Balance wise though, in terms of up and down tiers more generally, I’d say things are pretty good and far better than I recall. It’s only really high tier coastal which seems completely borked.

Trouble is they’ve artificially limited coastals to 3.7ish as that’s where blue water starts. Which likely made sense back in the day though if you added HMS Abercrombie then it should be 5.7ish.

Whole fookin Fairmile boats are guaranteed to get full uptier(3.3) along with reserve destroyers, and wooden hull only can sustain fire from 7.7mm gun (the one which was made British Rank 1 as nightmare)

and feels like things get even worse if we think about those upgraded Fairmile with 6pdr, which originally was intended to scrap those schnellboots…

It is quite sad that Britain’s finest (Liscomb and Brantford) are ranked in rank 2, which can’t grind events at all. :/

But yeah, strangely playing these junks gets slightly better and better
