Never feed the troll, basic Internet rule ;-).
Your observational skills and deductive reasoning skills have no equal. I am now physically kneeling to you from across our internet connections.

I think the other guy who said soon they’ll implement a version where you won’t even have to click the button anymore is right. And there is nothing realistic about a computer game about naval battle and actual naval battle. You really want a realistic game where you stare at a map of your area and some radar blips and tell your XO to fire the guns? How interesting. These games are about aiming and the fact that more players are in the lobby is temporary because they are checking out the new mechanics. After a while people will realize how boring it is to click and shoot and the player base will go even lower than before. Before this change things were actually really enjoyable with many close range slug fests with battleships. They really stuck their foot in their mouths with this one.
Really well said.
This is an ad hominem. Stop attacking the man and attack the argument.
As bad as this was, I could deal with it and make manual adjustments to compensate. That way more fun to do than point blindly and shoot. At least I had to think about making corrections.
Actually most of the time the lead indicator just gave me an idea of where to shoot at and then based on splashes I would adjust my aim.
Oh and this is the scene I mentioned where the guns aim could be check from the gunners position or gun captain’s position in the turret of the gun. A former naval officer who served on the Iowa said this was accurate in the movie.
your assumption is only things that you do matter
that may not be entirely true
i have given many ideas over the years
it they do not read the topics or even have them summarized by anyone … more fool them
as it stands i would rather play the game that was in beta code than what they have devolved it into
clearly those are the ones I am using since they are not in the list of ones I am not using.
You?
Oh dear - someone can’t take a simple answer and question in return - didums.
Unfortunately this update and the horrendous auto aim change has completely killed war thunder for me. Have played for years since the game first came out and have been a fan of the navy since they launched it, however this update has removed any challenge and all enjoyment from playing.
It seems the majority agree with this view point apart from a die hard few simpletons who enjoy just holding a mouse button down and letting AI do the work (especially the one who requested the change and seems to be whining on every thread about how great it is among the hundreds of posts for people who’s experience it’s ruined).
Even if they reintroduce the old aiming method as an option it wouldn’t work as you’d still have to play against people effectively using an aimbot.
The simplest option seems to be to vote with my feet and no longer play or spend money on the game. Seems a shame after playing for more than 10 years but in reality with so many other titles about and little time to play these days why bother with something that’s no longer enjoyable.
Maybe the Devs will listen to feedback but I think in reality the only thing that really speaks is money, if people stop playing and stop paying then they’ll be forced to change. But judging from how ill thought through and silly this change was to make in the first place I hold little hope the game will be salvaged.
Straight up simpletons. Same people who fawn over games workshop plastic toys.
Aiming sucks…when i came to NAB after the update i had 10 kills in destroyers when usually had like 2-3…
Needed to re-wire the whole concept in my brain to skip advancing the aim…
Considering quitting ARB and moving back to ground or even quitting the game
Can’t, it’s broken now:
What you call -cotton ball syndrome- is the math gaijin uses to make people play more.
Yeah, “aim at arbitrary green triangle to hit centre mass” has always just been “aim at centre mass with extra steps (and often just staring at the sea instead of your opponent)”.
Seeing as the aim view is effectively the ship’s fire director(s), having the player aim at the spot they want to hit does indeed make far more sense (along with getting away from some of the multitasking issues of the mode).
The problem was the aiming circle had a mind of its own and often would jump up and down for no reason. They introduced RNG to the equation (another way to nerf your income). Even if you fired, how much was that your aim and how much RNG?
I played a match in my stock IJN Kongo. The match was full of battleship bots that were bum rushing our side. A lot of AI fire incoming like crazy from all over the place. You have no choice, but to shoot at them and we know how long it takes to kill just one battleship these days.
Most players would just stay back and fire, except Sharnhorst steaming ahead and spamming his torpedoes for easy kills… and still surviving. The star of the show was Soviet Izmail killing enemy cruisers from back of the map with 2 salvos with HE shells left and right. Yes, we all know how wonderful the Soviet Navy was . Very strange game as it is. Kinda synthetic…
Did gaijin even think for a second what this big change would do to the BP tasks that we have to do EVERY day? I seem to be getting more assists now, so it looks I don’t lose as many as I used to with the previous broken system. It still sometimes says I got an assist, but it was a counted kill. Still not fully fixed ffs.
How about all these bomber/attacker, torpedo kills with a boat, doing 9000 damage AND a win and all the other tasks? With the crazy amount of battleship AI now, it’s hard to get that. With often just 4-6 players on a team and the rest bots, good luck getting your slow plane out. Got 4 kills and about 4500 damage in a 20 minute match… and that’s with IJN Kongo. It looks like you have to be very selective with your ships now and you have to get lucky to get a long match without a high uptier. You have to play something like Soviet Izmail with HE shells to get the damage task done (assuming you even have one). Btw, why are we still paying real money (on top of the SL to change tasks) for such convoluted Battle Pass that only gets less and less rewards for 3 months of grind? You just finished your task and POOF daily reset POOF and you have to start over. It’s so stale after 4.5 years now.
One last thing, why are the BP tasks for Air soo much easier to do than in Naval. I was doing them without even noticing within few matches. It sucks because you already have a Naval Special Task running, so you cannot do it in Air at the same time.
What are your most hated tasks that you never do? For me it’s like more than half of them, so I just reroll and spend most of the time something like 137,000 SL daily and then when I still get a crappy task after spending all that money (like yesterday), I just exit the game.
Typical… like the shells shot from some vehicles bounce back from armor
You might want to check your map preferences. They changed some of the BRs. African Gulf especially that goes up to 4.7 for 2 maps. No more battleships there.
It looks like I will retire my 5.0 destroyers for now. Frank Knox will be my new SL booster grinder from now on. 4.7 is the way to go, if you need destroyer tasks, such as 27 cables. There are many maps that end at 4.7 as top BR, but there are like 5 maps that 5.0 is the lowest, so you are always the underdog there. It’s just a punishment. No wonder majority of my 5.0 matches were 0.7-1.0 uptiers. Silly gaijin can’t even get this right. It makes soo much sense to be always the lowest BR in a destroyer against cruisers, right gaijin?
Edit: This wasn’t supposed to be a reply to wojtek_haj’s post.
Using planes in naval AB is now impossible, the AA from ships hitting a plane at 8KM (4.7BR), not even the AAA from airfields can hit from that far away. Depending on the map and positioning, you already spawn in the range of the enemy ships’ AA. And this also applies to blue water ships hitting boats with AA. Before, although it was not easy, but you could approach with a boat using skill. Now, you die almost instantly at about 3-4km from the blue water ship.
