Naval mode is finally dead

If it was a WW1 game, I’d agree with him :)

That doesn’t change my opinion that aircraft mains deserve to suffer in naval

Edit

This wasn’t remotely a part of the discussion.

If they’re going low-low or high-low, using good tactics, and there’s a chance for someone to shoot them down, I’m fine with them. If they use advanced weaponry that was meant for standoff attacks like Fritz-X or the Japanese guided bomb, I admire their skill. If they’re a fighter in NAB and take forever to get new ordnance back on, hey, best of luck. If they try level bombing with a big bomber in NRB with no aiming marker from out of AA range, well, good luck to you. I’m going to see you and I’ll be hard turning and smoking up so you’ll probably get nothing and have to go back to the airfield. And if you use torps in either mode, hey, I’m down to dance too.

It’s just the strat bombers in NAB, using easy to use targeting mechanics and 30 second ammo reloads to do things to a fleet no real bomber ever did, often at BRs where there’s very few enemy ships with the VT needed to hit them, that are game breaking to my mind. And because AI AA doesn’t use VT, to make it competitive against this one specific threat, all other AI AA needs to have a unrealistic accuracy factors on 3 inch HE and AP shells to have at least a chance of hitting them at high altitude, which then overbuffs AI AA for all the other altitudes and threats.

Killing aircraft in NAB is only a problem if you’re a nation that doesn’t have Variable Timed Fuse or AA that’s actually good.

Sadly, that’s one of the biggest issues at low and mid tier Naval. You get aircraft straight up dominating matches against ships with no defense. Mid tier it isn’t so bad because the entire match isn’t just WW1 battleships and Battlecruisers.

The power dynamic in naval heavily favors the ship in most cases when it comes to ship vs aircraft and I see zero reason to change that; let the aircraft mains suffer.

It’s not like a player can’t snipe a bomber at nearly 9km with VTFs anyway.

the torpedo bug is even worse as I couldn’t launch all torpedos with the mutsu destroyer which has only one launcher and no spare torpedoes like most of the other jap. destroyers. I got the green aiming bar and had 3 torps left, launcher undamaged and no fish left his tube… This bug happens not everytime, it seems that the launcher sometimes starts his reload-cycle and as long this takes no action was possible.

Another thing is that a number of mail guns are not able to lead at planes, e.g. the jap. K3 which has time-fuzed ammo available shoots in a straight line at planes at short distances where a lead would be necessary.

I was noticing guns failing to properly lead with VTF loaded on my Dido yesterday. Still killed the plane but it’s definitely a problem.

Also noticed Turrets 4 and 5 on Dido just straight up fail to move at all and just stare at the water on occasion.

I’m back on the topic just to say that a bunch of Japanese ships at 7.3/7.7 and some American ships at 6.3/6.7 have hull issues that let HE shells with under 370 mm of pen go straight through.

Bye dataminers :)

I didn’t mean like a bridge simulator, as a simple player controlling a ship the entire communications and situational information of the crew need to be presented for there to be any sense of realism.

It’s like how I see the target highlighting in ground arcade to represent the verbal info between commander and gunner, so while more realistic vehicles and experiencing the progression of technology are very interesting, RB is too much for me, but I would be more tempted if the vehicles were multi player, if anything just to see how they’d compete with single player vehicles (helicopters need this IMO with all the interesting movement and firing they’re capable of)

This happened to me too

The main+aux toggle sometimes needs to by cycled a few times to work

Schutze can’t shoot air either and it’s been like that since the aim changed, the PT-802 is fairly new and somehow still has a rangefinder, and consistency for survivability mods among coastal boats is so bad it would need a spreadsheet or bug posting for almost every vessel.

it’s a big mess, like that weekend they broke targeting on lots of ships, n00b or AI code refactoring maybe? but more importantly who pushes out changes like that on Friday.

They should just be honest and call it Naval Rework Beta so that we don’t log in expecting a working game :)

The unique phenomenon of battleships nowadays is that when you encounter high-level AI battleships, the armor piercing bullets do not penetrate deep enough to penetrate the waterline armor, the ignition is extinguished in one second, and after destroying the AI turret, the AI cannot repair it for several minutes. The turret remains in an invincible state of damage. Then you can stare blankly at AI and engage in meaningless firing as Gaijin had hoped, consuming time. Even 10 rounds of artillery fire may not be able to destroy 30% of the crew
Nowadays, real players are better at killing than AI because many people are not familiar with the damage control mechanism. Either they use Gaijin’s self proclaimed advanced damage control and then line up the crew to be executed by firing squad, or they do not use advanced damage control but use it to extinguish fires, drain water, and repair, and are then burned down by a 40 second bomb depot.

Ahhh yes, I got this also, try ALT-TAB and then ESC until you manage to open the menu.

By the way this is only happening in NAB or atleast haven’t got it in other modes.

It can happen in NRB as well, usually after respawning too quickly after a death. I click on a few other vehicles in my lineup before spawning in with the one I want to use in order to avoid this.

This is the “existing thread” to post your message in 😉

Full quote in case something happens to your post:

The post wasn’t entirely correct: you can counter their forward and backward movement but it still takes guesswork.

Doubly so if they’re fishtailing while trying to get closer.

The new system has problems to be sure but my biggest gripe with it is the gun dispersion making life miserable in some ships.

Like HMS York which only has 6 main guns.

@SekritDocumentz you got a reply fren! ☝️ I still read each and every post made on this thread. I am still holding onto a sliver of hope that they at LEAST give us a menu option to choose which aiming mode we want to use in NAB (Naval Arcade Battles).
