Gaijin, you need to give us the old Naval Arcade aiming system back

The “new” system, which as far as I can tell, nobody asked for, is totally ineffective.

The entire meta for battleships and ships fighting at range is now to simply spend the entire match shuffling forward and backward 200 yards to throw off the guns and targeting. Players do this until the one attacking them gets frustrated and turns their fire to a bot. Every match now is just players gently moving forwards and backwards like Austin Powers stuck in a tunnel.

Under the old system, you had the option to counter this very easily, by placing the shell drop marker on where they were going to be. You simply cannot do that now, so you can only fire with the guns “predicting” where the player will be if they don’t change course or speed. If you see a player turning, you could drop the shells into the turn. If you’ve got a 15 second flight time, it actually required some thought to guess where the ship might be in 15 seconds time.

Moving the aimpoint manually now is haphazard, because the guns don’t know what to do because they’ve been programmed to hit what you’re aiming at, so they just spray anywhere, but more so it’ll throw the guns out even more and shells go all over the place. Crew skills and mods make zero difference to this.

The current system is only fit for one purpose - Hitting bots and hitting players who don’t turn or change speed.

Entirely ineffective.
